FC OEM rear sway bars?
i hate to make a thread for this..
is there a difference among OEM FC rear bars? is TII/vert bar thicker than an NA? I'm looking for the stiffest of the OEM's |
I believe they are but can't say for sure... it's been awhile since I researched it. (I ended up going racing beat sway bars anyways)
|
I believe they are different. If I'm remembering clearly the SE and Vert models came with a 12mm rear bar and the GXL/T2/GTU had the larger 14.5MM rear bar. I want to say you can verify this with the part numbers for factory replacement bushings for the rear...
The part I cant recall is if it changed at all for S4 to S5.... |
I believe it's divied up by
4 lug = 12 mm 5 lug = 14 mm I actually removed my rear bar and so far like it. It pushes a LITTLE but I still need to finish aligning and cornerbalancing before I start playing around with different bars |
my setup is far from stock. i'm currently without rear bar, and i need a little better turn in. front is adjustable, so i can always add more in if needed.

if you're running coil overs, and other rear end stuff like solid bushings in the control arms, double camber adjusters, etc, then it's actually better w/o a rear swaybar.
Have you considered replacing your rubber control arm pivot bushings with solid ones? |
ive got a t2 rear bar for cheap if you need it.
|
i dont have any rubber parts.. its all poly and sperical, adjustable everything.
i had a ST rear bar, then no rear bar. i want something in the middle (OEM) anyway, i just want to trade my ST bar for a stock thicker one + cash |
What's the thickness on the ST bar? Is it adjustable? Comparision to the RB bar? I MAY MAY be interested. I still have a lot to sort out so having a stock TII bar in the mill may be beneficial to me.
|
ST rear bar is not adjustable, and from what i read "its the thickest you can buy"
i dont have calipers, so i could try to measure it but it may not be right. |
I took my rear sway bar off and I get somewhat more traction whilst drifting. *shrugs*
If you're that worried about sizes, get a tanabe way bar, its thick as shit. |
im not looking for a thick bar, i'm looking for a thinner one. i already have an ST bar and its too beefy.
OEM should be just fine |
According to the factory service manual the bars are as follows:
S4 w/o harder suspension: Front = 22mm, Rear = 13mm S4 w/ harder suspension: Front = 24mm, Rear = 13mm S5 w/o harder suspension: Front = 24mm, Rear = 12mm S5 w/ harder suspension: Front = 24mm, Rear = 14mm So for the rear it would seem that there are 3 choices: 12mm, 13mm and 14mm. I'll usually check the FSM for stuff like that, as it's full of useful information. |
hrm, I thought there were only 2 different sized, 12 & 13
