Konig Rewinds 4x110 (Special deal)

Just thought I'd throw this out for the rest of the old schoolers.
Discount tire direct has these wheels listed for $99 each, shipped. Thru the end of May, they are also offering a $50 "Instant rebate" on all orders containing 4 wheels. You can order a set, and have them on your door about 2 weeks later, for ~$346 (plus tax where applicable and/or accessories).
I just ordered a set to use for race tires, so I can keep my Ronal's for street use.

Since these are not listed by application, they have to be searched for by size.
Here's a direct link:
http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...&bp=4-110&rw=7

*NOTE, if they don't show up, search by size and specify the 15" and 4-110 option. Special order only, at this time. Hence the 2 week wait for delivery.

Holy amazing deals Batman!!! If I wasn't so happy with what I've got, I'd be jumping all over this. Thanks for the info RW....

NP man. Yes, it was an amazing deal. I was almost committed to buying a set of RT615's for dual use, but when I saw that I could get these for about the same price, I decided to switch gears. Especially since I have a set of RT615's that are still usable stacked in the corner, along with a set of 225/45-15 Hoosier A6's. Both are close to being done, but have a few events left. The A6's sealed the deal for me. They were given to me over the weekend.

And, just 'cause I can, a gratuitous pic of the new wheels....

And the car they are going on. The current 15x7 Ronals will be used for normal driving.

Thanks for the heads up ;) I just made John by 4 with a set of Rt615's for his. Now I have to finagle his old 14" 4-spoke aftermarket wheels to use as my race wheels.

PercentSevenC 05-05-2009 11:12 PM

It's too bad more sizes aren't available. But I guess we 4x110 guys have to take what we can get.

Rogue_Wulff 05-05-2009 11:19 PM

Yeah. These aren't exactly what I really wanted, but they were available and affordable.
They're destined to be race wheels, so looks aren't as important as functionality. Besides, they will let me keep tamer street tires for daily driving, and more agressive rubber for competition driving.

I am seriously debating calling my salesman back, and adding a set of RT615's to my order. I still have time to do so, and get in on the free mount/balance, since the wheels had to be special ordered.
I have a set that have a little life left, but a new set would be so much sweeter.......

Rogue_Wulff 05-09-2009 12:08 PM

I ordered these on May 5, and was told they would arrive in 2 weeks, around May 18-19. I got the tracking info email, and it shows they will be here Monday May 11. I can't complain about the service, since this was a special order item.
Great service, in my opinion. Less than 7 days to recieve a special ordered set of wheels, for an FB, and under $350 shipped. Heck, I couldn't even find used wheels for that price......

Don't ask for pics when I get them on, I don't even own a camera, much less a digital camera. I may be able to get some pics taken at the next autox though (May 17). If so, I'll post some of those.

P71 05-09-2009 02:48 PM

They're sold out for upwards of 2 months! They called John back and canceled his order :( He did get a $50 coupon so when they come back he can get them at the same price.

I did find out that Konig B-Bombs come in 4x110 and they are *much* better looking on an FB than Rewinds IMO. We may try to get those instead...

Rogue_Wulff 05-09-2009 03:09 PM

WOW, back ordered already? I was told they had plenty available when I called in to check availability. In fact, I was told that both the silver and graphite versions were stockpiled in the warehouse.
The "B-Bombs" I saw in 4x110 were 0 offset, which will stick out about an inch compared to the Rewind's +20 offset. My current 15x7's are +15, so I know I can easily clear the +20, since I also have coilover front.
I liked the looks of the b-bomb better, but as low as my car sits, I was afraid I might have fender rub issues.
I wish Konig offered the C-Sharp in the same size/offset/bolt pattern as the Rewind.

P71 05-09-2009 05:36 PM

Yep, and we called the day after you posted this. Apparently Konig underestimated how much demand there is for 4x110 wheels.

I like the look of the B-Bombs and measured out that they would fit with Z-car flares oh so nicely... ;)

UPS showed up a little bit ago. These wheels look even better than I thought they would.
6 days to recieve a special order is pretty darn good, considering I was quoted 2 weeks.
DTD has certainly earned more of my business in the future. This was my 3rd time ordering from them, and the service has always been great.

Anyone considering ordering these wheels should be advised, the stock lug bolts will NOT work. The hole the lugs go into is extremely recessed, and too small diameter for most sockets or lug wrenches to fit inside.
The best plan would be screw in studs, and lug nuts with no larger than a 19mm (3/4") hex.

Even if you could get the stock lugs to work, their pressed on head make them very undesirable, even on the stock wheels.

My Ronal wheels came with 17mm hex head lug bolts, so they can be used, but the depth of the lug holes makes them very difficult to get started into the hubs.
I'll likely switch to screw in studs and nuts in the near future, just to make installation of these Konig's easier.

McGards spline drive lugs are pretty small in diameter and the tool included with has an outside diameter the same as the widest point of the lug. Not sure of the actual diameter. Wish I had the money for these. I'm dying to get a new set of wheels.

Rogue_Wulff 05-12-2009 09:47 PM

I've considered the spline drive lugs. They also have another nice feature, the conical seat is seperate from the rest of the lug, allowing it to spin. This lets the seating surface of the wheel get less wear.
