Chris Carlisi Memorial Cruise & BBQ August 15th
I am not sure how many people on here know about the Carlisi Cruise event my wife and I and Rich had for Chris Carlisi last August near Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, but, it was a great event. We held it because so many guys knew Chris from his 20b project and he was such a great guy. Chris died of diabetes last June and one of the things we did was solicit donations from people and then donated it to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Chris' name.
We had about 50+ Rx7's from as far away as Toronto and Atlanta. Some motorcycles. Some interesting other cars. Ernie Taylor trailered his 780 hp beast in and drove it around. Chris' 20b GT42R was there and driving around. My 20b NA. Singles, couples, and families with kids. Some swimming, the firehouse made a chicken barbeque, lots of talking and a long cruise in the country to a good-sized lake and back. Good people and great cars. We're doing it again this year on Saturday, August 15th, and are expecting more than 100 FD's, a bunch of FC's, and a few FB's. This year there will be a few more 20b-powered cars and some vendors. AtomicRex is coming over from England with one of their carbon fiber bodied race cars with their billet aluminum steering rack (see group buy thread) and big brake kits. David Jerome is coming up from Tennessee, Logan Carswell of Defined Autowerks is bringing a portable dyno for pulls, and Dave Barninger is coming from KD Rotary. And, Phil's coming with hopefully one of his 20b's. Also, Chris' family will be there, including his dad, his mom, and his cousin. Same format... Lots of talking and driving and looking. Eating and talking. A long cruise and more talking. For those of you who knew Chris, this is a great event where we can laugh together about him, and for those of you who didn't, you'll have just as much fun listening, and talking about Rx7's, which will make Chris happy. My wife is preparing a schedule and will be putting up a website possibly. Let me know if you would like pictures of last year's event. Anyway, I thought I would see if there's interest and answer any questions... Gordon |
I will second Gordon's comment of it being a great event last year. I had a great time and though I didn't know Chris, I could see he had the same passion I do.
I'm planning to go back again for the 2nd year. |
I will also be trying to make the trip out from California. We'll see as time gets closer. :icon_tup:

The meet was amazing last year. The best thing was seeing how much the Carlisi family appreciated all of our support.
I will be attending again this year and highly recommend everyone that can come does. |
Hi Gordon! I would love to make the event this year. We''ll see how the 20B does going to DGRR and if successful, I think I'm in for the drive up to PA!

As long as the Army doesn't have me doing something, I'm there. I should know for sure around the June time frame. David Jerome and I have talked about it some. I'm always down for driving my FD's long distances... it kills the whole "the rotary isn't reliable theory". :D

Gordon, Are you coming to DGRR?? Hope you do..
As of now, I'm planning to goto this event. I used to talk to Chris once a week talking about 20B projects and such. He was a great guy to chat with and sad that he's no long with us.. He knew a lot about FDs, that's for sure! |
Phil... I should be able to be at DGRR. There are two issues. First, although Dave B at KDR says the car will be ready and willing and able, I don;t have it back yet. Second, I have been raising a new fund and (hopefully) am close to documents there. But, yes, I do plan to be there.
The Carlisi event was great. I think everyone should have a great time this year and encourage anyone who didn't come last year to try to make it. Gordon |
War Eagle... I would love to have you come up for the Carlisi meet. Bring your wife and you can stay in a nice romantic Delaware River B&B. We'll find something nice for you. See you at DGRR...
