Worked on the GSL today, fixed a lot!
I spent some quality time with both cars today (the P71 got a 180* t-stat, coolant flush, Royal Purple Purple ICE, serpentine belt, and a fuel filter) and the GSL needed a little work.
First I took the battery and tray out. The metal stand underneath wasn't even rusty! It had a little bit of surface scale, so I wire-brushed really well and shot a coat of Rustoleum on it. Then I got two correctly sized j-hooks and an over-the-top bar and made a battery hold down (to be legal for drag racing on Saturday ;) ). While the battery was out I soldered the wire connection for the low coolant buzzer/light (it was coming on intermittently) and topped of the coolant (like 3 drops!). I also drained and replaced the clutch fluid, checked out the rear defrost issue (still unsolved), and duct-taped the rear headliner up (I know, but I need to see out of the rear-view mirror dammit!). All in all, a nice relaxing few hours outside in the sun, and a decent dent made in the giant list-o-things to fix. I drove the 7 to my night class (never take 3rd year Business Calculus at night...) last night and to regular classes today. I think I'll drive it tomorrow too :driving: |
Cool, keep pecking away. The list of things to do will grow shorter.
