*&&@#* Oil Injectors
1 Attachment(s)
I'm having one hell of a time getting the oil injectors back in tight (the ones on the engine - not the manifold).
The wrenches I have are not narrow enough at the head to slip between the head (red) and the base (yellow) to get a bite on the bolt (green). So, what did you do to get these tight? Did you take a 14 mm and grind down one or more faces, or were you able to find a wrench that is thin enough? |
Looks to me like your oil injectors need some TLC. I just used a wrench, but my injectors were significantly better condition.
|
when I have problems getting them out I use a big spark plug socket from the top and rachet it out. I beleive the one I use is a 13/16. allways works!!!!!
|
Hmmm, the big heads didn't look that strong to me. Figured I would snap them off if I put a wrench on the head.
|
Looks like it is a moot point on the old injectors... Only one of the four passes the suck test. So, I guess I need to lube up (pun intended) and go see the mazda parts man.
|
did you do it? did it work?
|
No, there is no point to trying to get them in tight now. Three of the four are shot.

i ground down a wrench to fit

Question:
I will call Mazda later today to get a price on the injectors. Mine need to be replaced because they are only supposed to pass vacuum in one direction. Mine pass air in both directions. I imagine the Mazda price will be relatively high. So, instead of replacing the bad ones I have, can't we just put check valves upstream from the bad injector nozzles as I show in the picture? I can find these valves for as low as two dollars each. |
Get some from Mazdatrix, or call Ray at Malloy Mazda.
Fero313 bought like 20 oil injectors used before actually getting 4 that worked, to me that isn't worth it. |
I checked the MaxdaTrix site and didn't see any on their site and I think Mazda doesn't sell them anymore.
I may just have to add checkvalves inline. |
|
Thanks for the look-out. Don't know why I didn't see them before.
Mallory is selling them for a little less than Trix right now. But from what I read, new ones can go bad within 10K of purchase. So, I am going to try the check valves first (at < $8.00 a set) before going to the new nipples. Thanks again. |
Why so many check valves?
Mazda put a individual check valve into each of the oil injector nozzles.
Does anyone know if the check valve is at the base of the injector to block the backwards flow of oil? Or is it at the top of the injector to stop the backwards flow of air? |
