Do you adjust your gaskets?
3 Attachment(s)
I purchased this gasket and found that it doesn't really fit correctly.
Picture 13 shows the part - the ACV. Picture 12 Shows the gasket as purchased. Picture 14 shows the gasket as I think it should be modified. The yellow indicates material that should be removed and the red circle indicates where the gasket missed the port all-together. Do you all check/modify your gaskets before you install them? Or do you just take them as they are? |
i agree gaskets do interfere with flow sometimes and have to be modified but keep this in mind the part you are showing there while the gasket may seem like it is really blocking the passage of flow it isnt at all because where those chambers go to isnt really important nor does flow really have any effect the air valve on relies on the air pump for pressure and it is very little, at for a very short time so improving the gasket there isnt really going to gain you a noticeable difference in anything. now if that same port were say an intake runner and the gasket blocked that much then you are going to see a totally different picture by modifying it. dont sweat the small stuff.

Whoever made the replacement failed miserably...

I voted yes but let me expalin...
I rarely ever have noticed a gasket that was off, the only time I have to is when I port stuff then I will either gasket match the surface OR match the gasket to the port.. IMO that gasket is a failure. Try again or buy better quality gaskets maybe.. |
If I remember correctly, that gasket came from Mazdatrix. I didn't make it myself.

I voted yes, but I would much rather make my own...

I adjust when needed .I do make some gaskets from sheet material if I have the correct material .

I found that Buying sheet Material gaskets are the Cat's Ass..you don't have to order them, sit and wait, have down time, and they are always available.I buy the Rubber/synthetic stuff that is good for Fuel, and almost everything on the engine(coolant,intake,etc)..and I buy the Exhaust material stuff in Two foot sheets,so I can make a V-8 exhaust manifold gasket,IF I have to!(but that ain't gonna happen!)..If you think about it, the time that you have to drive around and Get Gaskets,or have to pay 20 bucks for some little Package to be shipped, this stuff saves you BIG Bucks!
