Ignitors???
I check coils for spark. there wasnt one. not one coil sparked. I guess my question is, do the trailing coils piggy back off the leading coils? Is it possible that the leading ones are just bad? or is it something completely different? If anyone has any ideas let me know please...

Check if there is power going to the coils on the harness and go from there.
The leading and trailing coils are entirely seperate, one could fail and the other would continue working. |
well i checked them again today with brand new spark plugs and only got a yellow spark....Is there anything else it could be, I just ordered new coils with ignitors, so if thats now what the problem is I wont be to happy..

Each has it's own ignitor in the base of the coil pack.
Leadings has one. Trailings has one. -Ted |
is it possible that both would go bad at the same time??
|
very unlucky. you said you were have no tach signal correect? Pop the cap off your CAS and see what things look like.
|
no, my tach is working fine, but i checked both sets of coils for a spark and got a very weak yellow spark out of each.
|
Do you know what the spark looks like normally?
Usually, they look pretty damn weak. If you'd seen a spark thrown by a CDI box, you'll understand. :) -Ted |
actually no i dont know what they look like normally but there were brand new plugs in the wire and it was only giving a yellow spark.
|
do you have a "harbor frieght" or similiar store around? What you need are one of those cheapy spark testers that are essentially a light bulb in between a spark plug wire.
|
yes there is one about 15 minutes away but theres also a napa autoparts and an autozone 2 minutes away. would they have them there.
