White smoke at start up?

White smoke comes out from the tailpipe when starting up cold. I'm suspecting some kind of leak. I sorta want to keep this car, but at the same time keep driving it for school. Should I be worried about the white smoke?

sounds like an oil control ring problem. when they start to go it will only be on cold/first starts that they smoke, but i've run motors for a year+ without it getting much worse.

try some lucasoil oil stabilizer on your next change. does wonders for me.

White smoke would more likely be caused by a coolant leak. Probably the two O-rings between the intake manifold and the motor. :)

that may be it too, get a smell of the smoke.

does it smell sweet?

Eatmyclutch 08-27-2008 02:52 PM

It smells like...gasoline...

I also didn't mention this only happened after I recently did an oil change. And the car has a straight pipe welded on.

Sounds like some slight flooding.

Kentetsu 08-27-2008 04:07 PM

Make sure that your oil level is not too high. This will force oil into the combustion parts, and can also blow out your oil control rings...

Eatmyclutch 08-28-2008 09:10 PM

^^^I'll check my oil level.

Never really had a trouble starting up my car, though I always have to open throttle twice before starting the car.
