this is making me mad

ok this is making me mad

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright first off i did search and found a lot of help full info and tried a lot of the stuff i found. i even broke out the haynes and tried that stuff. Ok with that out of the way ill start with the story.
Ok as some of you may know in oct 07 my na went BooM!! so i was time to start over and find another motor. well we bought a jdm 13bt. then we found a 87 gxl with a clean title and over all just clean but the motor was gone . so we decided to throw the turbo in the 87 and have a go at it. here is a quick list of stuff we did.

Fmic
Greddy type rs bov
full 3 inch exhaust
intake
255hp walboro fp
got some block offs
new silicone vacuum hoses

Then we droped it in the car. it ran but then it started smoking all in the same 10 mins (it warmed up). so it was time for a rebuild. so i ordered the normal.

gasket set
new lower intake gasket
oil control orings and springs
side seals and springs
2mm 2 peice apex seals from rhd japan and springs
solid corner seals and rx8 corner seal springs
thermo pellet

we put the motor back together (we = my best freind brian who has rebuilt a few his self) it has awsome comp. but hes out of town and now i have to do the timing
myself. it seems really easy you line up the yellow mark on the pulley with the pin on the front cover. then pull the cas and match up the mark on the shaft with the mark on the gear. hold the gear with ur palm or thumbs which ever you prefer and drop it in and start it up. sound easy but i have dont that and all it does it tuen and try to start then just turns some more and gets flooded.

ok heres what i have tried:
set the pulley on the yellow mark match up the cas= same
set the pulley on the yellow mark turn the cas gear back 2 ticks=same
set the pulley on the red mark match up the cas=same
set the pulley on the red mark turn the cas gear back 2 ticks=same

i know for sure that i have fire and fuel but this is really making me mad. if theres ne one in the south carolina or columbia area that can offer some help that would be great. although ne help would be great because i am jsut at the end of my rope with this car.

so, it cranks, turns over and floods?

87turbo_turtle 07-11-2008 01:40 PM

ya it tries to start once and then floods. ???

Phoenix7 07-11-2008 01:43 PM

and for sure it's flooded? It's not a HUGE vacuum leak in the intake system?

Nexcis 07-11-2008 02:52 PM

Since it was a double post, I've merged the two threads together. :)

87turbo_turtle 07-11-2008 03:25 PM

at this point i think it gets flooded. i dunno

87turbo_turtle 07-11-2008 03:27 PM

after i try to turn it over i pulled the plugs and their soaked. every time

Phoenix7 07-11-2008 03:47 PM

stock primary injectors? Deflooding doesn't work?

87turbo_turtle 07-11-2008 04:26 PM

yes stock primarys and no deflooding doesnt work it just refloods when i try again. setting the pulley on the yellow mark and setting the cas should put me with in timing right? and real quick what all has to do with the coils firing. cas and what else?

Phoenix7 07-11-2008 04:33 PM

It should set you at the right timing but that's asuming the main pulley has never been removed and reinstalled. You MAY need to find TDC if you think your timing is WAY off.

Funny enough, I just posted the FC Ignition systems link earlier.

Found in the FSM link in my sig.

since its a fresh rebuild, i probably has low compression. try pull starting it, or pull the fuel pump relay while cranking and once it fires up plug it back in. also, starting fluid is your friend.

Everything is set right and we have tried setting it differently. Hey we now have an old employee of RX7 world over with no clue on what the hell is going on. AND I AM BACK AFTER MUCH AVAIL THIS SUMMER. LONG SWING SHIFTS AND LOTS OF SLEEP. I have money to finish my last 5 classes of college.
