My swap thread.
I found the car for sale on teamfc3s. I drove down to pick it up in Venice, FL. It was parked here...
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...pics/aqa-1.jpg and had a blown this... http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/MVC-005S.jpg also had fuel running into the cabin of the car to a gauge here... http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/MVC-013S.jpg bad bad. Seats were torn and had a dent in the back above the passenger tailight. I made a new offer and the guy took it. I rented a trailor and took it straight to my mechanic's shop. |
I was going to rebuild the 13bt and call it a day, maybe do a full restore on the car but after tearing down the engine we found almost nothing was usable. So then I started looking at options.
Option#1 http://www.royaljapanesemotors.com/uploads/13B-RE.jpg Option #2 http://www.royaljapanesemotors.com/u.../13B-TURBO.jpg but neither of these 2 would satisfy me. I would always be wanting more. So I told him, go all out and get me the big dog. Thats right, 20B time! So not even a week goes by and my car looks like this... http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/IMG_0109.jpg http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/IMG_0110.jpg |
So now the 20B is bolted up and wired up to the Microtech ltx12s. Intercooler bolted in a piping welded up. All that is left is to turn the key....so we did...
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...h_MVI_0133.jpg Now what? Get it tuned of coarse.. http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...h_c83ea175.jpg 366 hp and 357 tq and I was happy. For now. |
Now it is running strong and keeping me happy for a little while. Now I need to keep my car happy so what else would a car want but a good wax and a small photoshoot. After all, it was under a TARP for a year. I also had to make excuses to my wife why the grass was dead in one spot about the same size as my car.
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...e/IMG_0471.jpg http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...e/IMG_0474.jpg http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...e/IMG_0475.jpg http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...e/IMG_0491.jpg |
After driving it for awhile I had some problems with keeping the engine cool at high speeds, above 75mph to be exact. I blamed two things, 1st I kept A/C so with the added FMIC and bigger engine, I wasn't getting enough airflow across the radiator. 2nd, the tune was too lean and causing excess heat at cruising speeds.
The fix: -Cut a new opening in the front bumper ( I didn't want to do it but I had too) http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/IMG_1493.jpg -Get a new tune http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...h_MVI_1210.jpg New numbers dropped to 320hp 301 tq |
This is where it is at today...
http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/IMG_1439.jpg and where it lives at now, she is much happier... http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/IMG_1496.jpg |

very sweet. Love the stock look.
|
Definitely love that car. I love white S5's. They make the car look so clean, and then adding a 20B under the hood and you've got the ultimate car. :)
|
Where do you live? I know someone in louisville that also goes by blk fc3s and was wondering if you were the same guy by any chance, though it doesnt quite seem like it, i would die to see a 3 rotor in person.
|
I approve of everything related to that car. :icon_tup:
Do you have the undertray? If not, that will mess with your high speed cooling. |
