Car wont start: weird clicking under intake manifold

I was trying to start my car again today and it wont start, it fires everynow and then and tries to start but dies. When I hold the key in the on position without trying to start the car there is a clicking under the upper intake manifold that I have never heard before could this be what is the issue?

Im open to any ideas, I just drove the car like 30 miles last month with what seemed like no problems and havent changed anything other than the PFC maps.

Thanx
Jeremy

Just a wild guess but it may be your injectors...it could be clogged or gone bad...

Sounds like your ISC (Idle Speed Control) I really wouldnt think that it would prevent it from starting, however it will definately effect your idle once started. Just disconnect it and turn the Idle Speed Screw counter clockwise a couple times and then readjust it once you start the car. The ISCs fail commonly and make weird noises.

The injector should not be receiving any signal until the trigger wheel behind the main pulley starts to turn, Im not saying it is impossible for that to be it but I wouldnt think so.

which one is the ICS again? I think I may have blocked that one off when I took all the emissions off? So it may not even be there.

Back of the UIM with the white connector on the wiring harness going to it.

i agree sounds like the ICS, unless an injector wire is somehow grounding out. Pull the plugs and see if the car is flooded. The ICS shouldnt keep the car from starting as David stated.

Check to see if you have spark, maybe one of your coils has died

Hmm, im gonna check these things out but I have recently just checked most of this stuff and it was all fine. I think the car is flooded from running too slow at idle untuned when I last had it running.

If you start to car and it dies immediately after about 2 or 3 shots you can pretty much gaurantee that you have fouled the plugs.

Well, I just tried to start it again today and looks like now im not getting any fuel presure from the pump. Either it isnt coming on or its not being told to come on. Zero nada zip for presure at the engine.

SPICcnmFD 05-05-2008 09:30 AM

Is the pump coming on??

Herblenny 05-07-2008 02:35 PM

Thats crazy!!! What pump are you running?

Proxy One 05-19-2008 11:18 AM

Well shit, I just got finished changing out the pump yesterday to a Supra Denso pump that I wanted to do anyhow. Well I still am not getting any pressure with the key in the on position. I cant beleive that its leaking past the injectors again? I have not even driven it more than 30 miles since I got it back from the shop and it was holding pressure fine when I got it back from them.

Herblenny 05-21-2008 09:14 AM

Did you check the fuel pump relay?
