Car starts at cold start only
My 93 rx7 13b starts at only at cold start but then dies like at 2 min jus sitting there and while its running theres a lot of smoke coming out the exhaust. Its a single turbo conversion with both 750cc primary and secondary injectors running on a 255 fuel pump. The previous owner had an Apexi Power FC and a Hks EVC-S boost controller but removed it from the car. And now im using my brothers Power Fc but I have no boost controller connected yet but the valve is still there but starts only at cold srarts and when i decide to turn it on again it wont start at all. What could be the issue with this? Does it need a proper computer tuning?

Yes.

So by programming the Power FC ecu it will fix the issues that I'm having with my car? Do you know what will be the rate for the programming by any chance?
|
Numbers - there is no guarantee that having your ECU mapped for your setup will fix all your problems (you could have issues unrelated to the ECU map) but it will certainly help. Does your btothers car have a similar setup to yours? (Same ports, turbo size, injectors, etc., etc., etc.)

You say a lot of smoke coming out of the exhaust is this white smoke or blue smoke? Are you running low on oil a lot? Is your coolant low a lot?
Does the smoke happen right at start up and continue until burn off or does it start when the engine is up to temp? I would personally not use a PFC. Using one that was on and Tuned for another car to operate yours was a mistake that might have blown your engine. Lets hope for the best get us some answers and we can better put our brains to it. |
Ok guys all im asking is just advice and what I should do. Nobody is trying to show that their better than others. Ok so my setup is a rebuilt street ported 13b only abou 700 miles on the engine with a T64 single and all the rats nest is gone even the air pump. My brother had talked to the guy who had it and said that the primaries and secondaries are 750cc on a 255 fuel pump. My brothers rx7 has the stock twins and fuel injectors and everything else. When installing his pfc to mine, the car will start at cold starts but then ill let it idle for about 1 or 2 minutes and it will die on me and while idling it throws out alot of white smoke. Idk if I need the display boost controller hooked up also. What could be the problem?

Why would a tune for a twin with 550cc run a car with a single and 750cc injectors? Seriously you need to find a tuner and get that thing sorted out properly you will pay to much for a terribly old ECU that is very very slow and will end up with a popped motor.
Or you can save some money and buy a proper standalone, WI, and have it installed and tuned. I am going to assume you will be keeping the PFC and just puckering yer butthole every time you mash the gas. Get a proper EBC or even a manual over the PFC unit. Then get her to an experienced PFC tuner have it dyno tuned or street tuned.DO NOT JUST TAKE MAPS FROM STRANGERS ON THE NET Good Luck! |
Mr. ARD-FD3S:
This is your formal, first warning for posting bad advice. Please re-read the forums rules, as giving bad advice does count for disciplinary action. I am going to try and rid all the unnecessary crap in here. Power FC the "best"? Oh please. Run 28 psi on pump gas? Oh please. -Ted |
Thanks for cleaning that crap up Ted.
|
I said that the Apexi boost control kit comes with a map sensor that allows you to Run 28psi.
Never said u can run 28 on pump fuel And Thanks for cleaning up the the bad language . |
Other than a pfc, whats an ecu thats worth the buying for good performance then?

It depends a lot on your budget.
Haltech PS1000 or PS2000 are capable and not going to be *too* expensive. Adaptronic is a relatively new company that has become popular. Syvecs makes VERY good stuff, but they're a bit more pricey. (I've personally got a Life Racing ECU, which is the motorsports sister-company to Syvecs). The last few years have seen MAJOR advances in ECU capability and accessibility. AEM and Haltech both had an "arms race" so to speak which produced the AEM Infinity and Haltech Elite, both being BADASS computers. Where are you physically located? At the end of the day ANY ecu is only as capable as the person tuning it (except for Microtech. Friends don't let friends put a microtech in their street FD. Ever!!) so you'll want to speak with whoever is tuning it. |
Reading some of the deleted posts and even some of the non deleted posts is comical. There is sooooooooo much bad information it's ridiculous.
A) the PFC stands for pretty fucked car or pretty fucked computer or pile of fucking crap B) the adaptronic isn't much better. It's quicker and can actually datalog although not very well at all. and the interface sucks big horse cock. Oh, and it's still relying on 25 year old wiring. So consider buying a new stock engine harness for like $1200 C) anything halltech E(anything) should be filled with tanerite and put in a field for target practice. End of story D) helltech PS1&2000 is like the lowest of the low entry level ECU's based on the way their mapping is done. It kinda really sucks, like a lot, to tune transitions. They do have some features that I like, engine protection and closed loop fuel and boost control E) NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE THE ADVICE OF SOMEONE WHEN TALKING ABOUT ECU'S WHO DOESN'T ACTUALLY KNOW HOW TO SET THEM UP, WIRE THEM IN, OR TUNE A CAR. It's like asking Hellen Keller to teach you to read. Just because you can read a spec sheet doesn't make you an expert. I can read a recipe, but you don't want me cooking for you, unless it's from the grill, or an omelette. |
^ I can't disagree with ya Brian ^_^
I gave the suggestions I did based on the assumption that numbers is a complete newblet, so he'll have a pretty basic setup. And adaptronic simply because how popular they seem to have become, so there is a good chance he'll be able to find somebody familiar with them. |
