NCM Winter Track-X Event January 17th, 2015
http://www.motorsportspark.org/events/trackx/
"The Track X program is a winter driving event that the NCM MSP is very excited to introduce! This activity takes place in an autocross-type environment, with coned gates and dedicated start to finish timing, but on the racetrack! It will be an open event, with no class structure – just run what ya brung, high speed fun! Runs will be timed. The event will be rescheduled if forecasted weather is threatening. We will watch the weather and do our best to make a weather call early." http://www.motorsportreg.com/events/...7#.VLU4yGeulv8 Event is $75. They will have workers for cones, so no work assignments!... this leans more towards track event than true auto-x, and similar to the event they used to do out on the NSS infield before it closed. Weather is going to be in the 50s! Great chance to get out on this new track! We have a group of about 5-6 going currently... Rotary people need to come out and represent! |

How did event go?
|
Pretty good! 100 cars, no working, lots of chatting. Lines were a bit long for an auto-x setup but worth the hassle to get some track corners at speed. Got six runs, and at about a 1:40 lap.
|
How different is the car since you re-raced it? Or did you swap everything back for the track day?
|
Currently it has stock suspension, stock brakes, and a cat. Still has RB exhaust and intake, and a swapped the ZII tires on just for the event. So really all its missing is the susp and brakes.
Feels the same power-wise. Handling wise it felt higher and more floaty, but still nimble, slightly more understeer. Tires never got really warm and the track itself is new and had very few events if any this winter... so overall grip was down as well. Coilovers were very nice, but not necessary for track use. I never even adjusted them out of medium settings anyway, as the car felt great from the start. To do it all over again i'd probably just get a nicely balance set of springs and shocks to get slightly more firmness overall, and to not have older OE shocks. |
Looks like a cool track. Just looked at track schedule, I guess this will be a regular winter event.
