Nikki help

Ok, my brother recently purchased an FB that is getting fuel to the carb but no further. Neither he or I knows a thing about carburetors so he's had a mechanic friend help him rebuild the carb... to no avail. Fuel is still geting to the carb but... nothings making it to the bowls. I went to read up on Sterlings site but it looks like there's not a troubleshooting tutorial up yet. I'm heading over to his house tomorrow afternoon to see if I can help so, who's got advice?

Ok, I've been reading for the last couple of hours and it seems like these are the suspects:

1. floats stuck in the up position
2. Needle valves stuck shut
3. clogged filter screens/lines

Please let me know if there are any other reasons why fuel would get to the carb but not make it into the bowls.

You might want to try tapping on the top of the carb to get the needle valves broken loose. Had to do that with mine when I first bought it. Check those screens under the banjo bolts too, but I've never seen them so clogged that nothing gets to the bowls at all. How sure are you that you've got fuel going as far as the carb?

100% sure that fuel is getting to the carb. You can pull the line off the carb and watch it squirt.

UPDATE... Upon inspection, the carb is getting fuel into the bowls just fine. The problem was that it's not getting any further than that. we pulled the top off the carb and I tried to blow some canned air through the jets... no go. Two of the jets and six of the air bleeds were clogged. We were able to prime carb and start up the car after we got that sorted out. My new questions are:

1. Isn't there supposed to be gas squirting from the pump nozzle between the primaries to start the car?

2. At what RPM are the secondaries supposed to operate? We ran the engine all the way to 7k and they didn't do a thing.

1. It won't squirt automatically, only if you are pushing the gas pedal.
2. The secondaries are vacuum operated (unless modded for mechanical operation). You will never see them working while revving in the driveway. They will only function under on the road use.

Yeah, there's nothing squirting from the pump nozzles even when the gas is pushed. I'm guessing the accelerator pump diaphragm is bad?

Sounds like a safe bet...
