1988 13b into a 1984 GSL-SE
My 1984 GSL-SE has a fuel injected 13b. I have acquired a fuel injected 13b from a 1988 RX7 to rebuild and include it with a 5sp transmission in my spares for endurance racing. What am I looking at as far as compatibility?
I hope that is enough information to get some answers, if not ask for more specifics. |
Use the GSL-SE front cover and oil pan, the engine will bolt right in. Is the 88 NA? I assume so. I do not know if the 84 6 port intake manifold and injectors will fit the 88 6 port correctly. With your budget restrictions this would be the best way to go if possible. Hopefully someone else has done this and can answer the question better. Which is what I was waiting for. Figured this needed a bump anyway.

i was helped with this swap in my se. i have an 87 n/a in my 84. here's a list of what you'll need to make this swap work.you do not need to do anything to the ecu or harness in any way.let me know if you have any questions.
you'll need to reuse these parts from the se engine: air flow meter, injectors, tps, distributor, oil pan,oil pickup tube, front engine cover, oil cooler and lines, radiator and heater core hoses, engine mounts and bracket what you need from the s4 engine: tps bracket, alt bracket, intake manifold, throttle body, intake tubing going to the throttle body from air flow meter, flywheel, water pump housing and water pump and pulleys, omp and lines, secondary port actuators what you don't need from the s4 engine: tps, injectors, cas, oil pan,oil pickup tube |
i updated my swap thread. "new old car". check it out. to use the s4 trans, you have to swap the se's tailshaft housing to the s4 trans.
