new to rotary need some help
just picked up a 83 rx-7 with the 4barrel 12a ive been working on it for about a week now new gas cleaned the jets put a new float in it and i still cant get it to run rite it idles great at 750 rpm has no problems starting hot or cold but it hesitates bad tap the gas it wants to die out and after i get it warmed up and seems to be running ok i take it for a ride around the block runs fine tell i get about half way then i cant even make it up the hill to my house it bogs when you hit the gas dies sounds like its running on one rotor sometimes and i already comp checked it passed with flying colors so im stumped now any help will be much appreciated

Hesitation when hitting the gas is usually an accelerator pump problem. Typically an old leaky diaphragm. Get a quality rebuild kit and rebuild the Nikki. Good first place to start. You do know that compression testing a rotary is different than a piston engine? Who did the compression test?

i think the pump is ok i get good squirts of gas when i hit the throttle and yes i know its different i got 3 even pulses of 90psi on each rotor

when you experince this problem can you pull the choke out a bit to see if this makes a diff. its either going to be terrible and kill the motor
or it will power up the hill either way you find out what going on make sense? |
