Good deal or bad deal
So am new to this forum and just want to find out if i got a good deal on my 1993 rx7 r1 TT. So i bought this car of someone on craigslist that had since it came out. The car had a blown engine in 2001 and had been sitting in this mom garage since. He sold it to me for $2000 and just wondering if i got good deal on the car or was it a waist of my money..:dunno:

If the only thing wrong with it is a blown engine, I'd say it was a great deal. I'd look into the gas tank though, and at the very least drain all the gas out. I'd also go through and do a tuneup on it...fuel filter, spark plugs, etc.

A good condition roller (frame of vehicle with pretty much everything but the engine/transmission) would go for around $5k. So I'd say that you got a good deal =)
|
^That's the exact reason I thought it was good. You usually don't even see rollers without engine and tranny go for that low.
|
Yea he sold it that cheap because he brought it from Arizona and has not registered it for like 10yrs, but when registered it in california they they only charged me $69...lol...Aswell his mom wanted it out ASAP...:D

Nice, you got a screaming deal man! =)
Now just get it rebuilt at a reputable shop, replace those vacuum hoses, check the solenoids and injectors and have a blast! |
I was thinking just to replace the motor with a Japanese imported motor... what's your advise on those motors...
|
I wouldn't trust those. Even if you got one of those, I'd rebuild it first. But I'd check to see what you got first, you might have good, reusable parts and it would save you a lot of money.
|
^ exactly, see what condition the original motor is before buying another. If it's rebuildable then that'll leave you with more money in your pockets to do preventative maintenance and upgrade failing parts. Congrats on the purchase and welcome!

Try to find a rotary shop in your area and inquire on costs of a rebuild.
You got a great deal btw. |
the problem with getting a rebuild is i cant find shop that does a rebuild near me... And the only shop that i got a hold of was ricks rotary but he gave a extremely high prize to rebuild it... He was telling me around 10k to rebuild it because its been sitting for so long..

You'll need to ship it somewhere for sure, or just take it somewhere else somewhat local. Not sure where Richmond is, but there are a few rotary shops out there I believe, so I'd shop around. Mazdatrix, Lucky7, Racing Beat (that one will probably be crazy expensive lol), but those are a few.
