BF Goodrich KDW2's

I have SSR Type-C Rims,
17X8 in front
17X8.5 in rear

I want to put BFG KDW2's on them,
thinking 235/45R17's in front,
and 255/40R17's in the rear,

I'm currently running 225's in front, and 255's in the rear with absolutely no issues.

Uhm,.. Does anyone have any comments, or experience with the BFG's that I am after???
Anyone ever used them?

They will just be for driving around the city like a boss,
no track, no drifting, nothing like that. Just fancy A-B (quickly in some cases, hehe)

Thanks for any comments or input.

I run bigger tires on my stock bodied FC.

Someone has fallen victim to advertising

almoststockfc 02-27-2012 08:18 AM

I have plenty. Good street tires but cant say much for anything elese. Just make sure wich kdw 2s you are getting. There are atleast 2 that i know of

almoststockfc 02-27-2012 08:30 AM

On the other issue of the size i cant offer any advice. It all depends on your offset and if you have coilovers or not. But yea like brian said you should be able to go way bigger

Mobius 02-27-2012 09:40 AM

I run them on my FD, I have no complaints.

DriFD3S 02-27-2012 11:09 PM

Hmm... How much bigger should I go?
What can my rims accommodate?

I don't know my offset off by heart.

Thank you Mobius for the input.
Good street tires, but nothing else??
not for track, drag, or drifting events?

Roen 02-28-2012 09:26 AM

I'd look into what tires are better in the wet, the KDW2 or the Bridgestone RE-11. The RE-11 wil massacre the KDW2 on dry.

You specifically mentioned in your OP that you were not looking for information about track usage, so I didn't mention any.

These are the only tires I've run on my FD for some time, so I can't tell you how they compare to others. I can tell you that they are a relatively hard tire, so you can get decent mileage out of them unless you're lighting them up at every intersection. Which to me is good for a street tire.

In the wet the traction falls off quickly, and if it is wet and cold you should stay home. Despite that, they do seem to be quite stable in standing surface water (say long puddles in the highway grooves).

The only track experience I've had with them is 2 or 3 autoX's. They aren't particularly grippy, but the sidewalls are very stiff (at least in the sizes I'm running) and I found them to be very consistent and predictable.

I put down a 69s time in the rain @ Limerock running Direzza Z1SS's... then I drove them to CA and back and even went through a snow storm in PA with a few inches on the highway... I wouldn't reccomend it, but I'll be putting another set on the 'vert. My FC is in need of more grip though

Then why did you say this in your original post...?

Are you off your meds again?

Hankook Ventus R-S3.....so good for a street tire, Ontario Time Attack is reclassifying the gap from 10 points to 8 points to a Hoosier R6. Put that on your vert, tell me what you think compared to the Direzza.

TitaniumTT 02-29-2012 02:43 PM

I already have good Direzza rears for the vert, just need to buy fronts. I'll put them on the coupe when the time is right. How do they compare to the nitto nt01, nt05, ad08 etc etc.... you know, the real tires, not the ones that just look cool ;)

Roen 02-29-2012 03:11 PM

NT-01 is a different class
NT05 is worthless
AD08 is good in the dry, twitchy as fuck in the wet. I was having problems in low temps and rain with a 350 whp 135i.

TitaniumTT 02-29-2012 11:09 PM

Don't care about the class.... how does the tire stack up?

almoststockfc 03-01-2012 12:02 AM

I dont think kdw 2s are for any class. This topic went to left field
