Hey everyone just got up on RCC so here I am. Little bit about myself: Im 26 years old and a combat medic in the US Army. Enough about me, onto my car: I own a 93 Mazda RX7 touring model thats currently getting built. I had purchased this vehicle while I was deployed in Afghanistan with the plan to have a build done with quality parts instead of getting ahold of other peoples projects and having to undo things to make my own progress. I purchased this RX7 with minimal mods, just very minor pieces, and with a fresh rebuild on the engine, got home from deployment a month and a half ago, and put in orders for all my parts.

Welcome to the forum, beautiful car!

xIceHoundx 02-15-2012 09:23 AM

Thanks, it will be even more beautiful next month when the build is done, im aiming for around 500rwhp on stock ports with pump gas and 50/50 water/meth with this new setup on high boost

speedjunkie 02-16-2012 02:04 AM

Welcome! It looks great! You should come along with us to DGRR as we come through your area. That would be a good shakedown for the car lol. I just got back from deployment about a month ago myself. But I'm AF, so it's more like a vacation for me LOL. Welcome back!

xIceHoundx 02-22-2012 05:17 PM

Id love to roll out for DGRR i'll see if I can make that possible.

finally making a bit of progress. Turns out Apexi was behind quite a bit on making their boost control kits for the Apexi PFC so I went ahead and purchased a limited black Apexi AVCR electronic boost controller new from a shop. Ordered up some graphite exhaust port gaskets up and some oem throttle body gasket, throttle body o-ring, lower intake gasket, and upper intake plenum gasket from Atkins Rotary waiting on these to arrive to get more work done on the car but weve got most of the stuff off the car thats getting changed up.

Damn that looks good. Nice work!

xIceHoundx 05-26-2012 08:02 AM

Thanks I'd love to lower it more and get a better stance out of it but my driveway is brutal it has a big raise that comes to a point then drops back down the goes back up again all in a small stretch but eventually I'll drop it down more when I get away from the current place

GySgtFrank 05-26-2012 08:54 AM

Very nice. I take it low rider hydraulics is out of the question?:D

xIceHoundx 05-26-2012 09:17 AM

No air ride suspension it would add too much weight and take up even more space as throw off weight distribution that Mazda did so well at distributing on this chassis. I'm a soldier in the army and will be moving to Germany to a new duty assignment soon and plan to get this FD on nurburgring and stuff

GySgtFrank 05-26-2012 09:43 AM

Just kidding with you. Nurburgring, I'm jealous, the only time I got to spend in Europe was when the C5 broke down for four days in Spain, they wouldn't even let us off base. I've heard that's a mandatory stop for car guys if they ever get to Germany. Keep us posted when you get over there.

I know what you mean. I'm lucky enough to have two driveways and I have to come in at as much of an angle as possible in the second driveway and drive across the yard to the other driveway and I STILL scrape lol.

I'm jealous of Nurburgring too. Have you checked into mod laws in Germany? I'd love to PCS there but I always heard they are strict about mods on cars, and things like the wheels can't poke out past the fenders. If all that isn't true I might try to come over too lol.

This FD is looking great though, good work.

xIceHoundx 05-28-2012 12:33 PM

You know I've heard the same sort of things about strict mod laws in Germany but I've spoken with friends who have been or currently are out there and they say most of it is no problem. I am a bit worried about if they will have anything to say about my wheel fitment and how it pokes out but I've got my stock wheels and if I gotta I'll just put them on for initial inspection to pass then go swap them back after

speedjunkie 05-28-2012 11:11 PM

Sounds like an awesome plan haha. I hope you can get it out there on the ring.

xIceHoundx 06-07-2012 06:05 AM

Haha yea if I can ever get this thing on the street. There's been so many setbacks and delays trying to get everything straight, we had it on the dyno last friday(for the who knows how manyth time) and looks like we got all the little bugs out it pulls strong nice smooth power band but we are maxing out the clutch and it's slipping like crazy at 330whp 280wtq, so I've got an ACT 6 pick extreme clutch on the way so I should hopefully be back on the dyno this weekend and making my planned 450rwhp. Then I'll take some proper pictures of the car cleaned up
