Need some FD assistance

I just put in a rebuilt engine from Kevin Landers (street port) and am having some terrible idleing and flooding issues I'm trying to work out. I wanted to see if any of you rotary gurus around the Fayetteville, Elizabethtown, Lumberton, or Wilmington area could cruise down one weekend and help me troubleshoot these issues before I load it up and take it to rotorsports. Free BEER(s)!!!

Well that sucks. I used to be in Fayetteville from 03 to 08, where were you then?! LOL

Anyway, have you messed with the map on the PFC yet? Was your last engine stock port? If so, I'd start there. When I put in my first ported engine I had some major hunting for idle going on.

Yeah it was stock before. I will check on getting a map. I got back from Germany in 02 but didn't get my FD until 05 and didn't get to the Fayettenam area until 07. FDs are far and few around here, I would much rather be in CO, I love it there.

Stock old injectors? Who did the tune on the PFC?

What is your fuel pressure? I wouldn't think that the porting would affect your vacuum enough to flood...

and I know it might seem like a silly question, but is the vacuum line to the boost sensor connected? I only ask because I've had it pop off before and car would load up...

I've had a Kevin Landers engine and was VERY happy with it... And I'm up in Asheville... and know one or 2 guys down in your area... (Ruben in Wilmington and Joel in Jacksonville)

Yeah I hear that. I HATED Fayettenam, and there was only one other guy I knew of with an FD in the area, and there were a couple FCs but neither of them ever came out. I always met up with the guys in Raleigh though, they were really cool. They have a website but they're mostly on fb now, I'll see if I can find their info later, I forget what the club is called now haha. And I love CO, especially compared to Fayettenam.

I don't think the porting would make it flood per se, I'm just referring to the crappy idle. As long as he's talking about it hunting for idle. Of course flooding may still be attributed to the port, I don't know for sure. It would be good to know exactly HOW it's idling poorly...about to die all the time, hunting, etc. Also, if its smoking really bad. Could be something as simple as a vacuum line though, true.

And what I wouldn't give to live near the Dragon haha. We have some good curvy roads in CO too, but I don't think I've found one quite as technical as the Dragon, most of ours are longer curves. Still fun though.

Yeah, I don't think it is anything with the engine. Just giving Kevin some props, Kevin is an awesome guy and an awesome engine builder. It is something I goofed up more than likely. The PFC hasn't been tuned it is the stock (newer updated map). Fuel pressure is around 32 psi at idle. Boost line is connected to map sensor (but I will double check and make sure it isn't kinked or something. And they are the stock old injectors, cleaned and flow tested by witch hunter (all passed). Also It will not idle below about 1400 - 1500 rpms without stalling, idle is also really rough and once it warms up it does start hunting. Once it starts hunting, if I try to bring the idle down with the idle screw and air bleed screw to stop the hunting it dies. Smoking is also really bad, I pulled it out to drive on some back roads and couldn't even see the road behind me for smoke. Not sure if it makes a difference but I am also running premix 1:1 ratio (no omp). When I try to accelerate it starts cutting out around 4000 - 5000 rpms in any gear.

I wouldn't say the premix has anything to do with it. First, it sounds like you're running WAY rich. When I first went single turbo I had this same problem...cutting out around 4 or 5k and lots of smoke. I got it tuned and it was fine. Also the problems with idle I believe have to do with your tune I think once you get it tuned you should be fine. Or at least it should be better anyway, and if you have any other problems you can address them at that time. I would start with a tune, definitely.
