engine rebuild question

quick question would the overhaul kit "A" from atkins rotary be the only thing i need for a engine that has been rebuilt but the coolant seals failed?

Post this in RotaryResurrections vendor section as he will have the answer you need.

well the engine only has a couple thousand miles on it so the apex seals should be good right?

I agree with Kevin... I would pull the engine apart and inspect it FIRST maybe post pictures if u have questions.. but I would replace all the seals and o-rings at the bare minimum...

My question is who rebuilt the last engine, why did the coolant seals go out?

Might as well cover all your bases and refreash anything you can, and heck if your going to open it up why not clean up the ports a bit too? Or is it already ported?

Coolant seals/dowelpin orings/tension bolt seals, front/rear main seals, apex seals (springs can be reused), cornerseal springs, viton oil control orings, thermal pellet.

I dont use a particular kit so I can't say wha tis contained in each. Use the list above as a minimum purchase list.

I made sure to replace my side seal springs as well. I think that's the only thing I didn't see on your list that I would do.

So basically you won't know everything you will need until you open it up, but yeah since your taking out the engine, might as well look at all the other parts in the bay. And give it a good scrub down too

As I've said before, I believe the art to building rotaries is not so much in knowing how to assemble parts...anyone can do that. It is knowing what you can and can't get by with reusing successfully.

Yeah about half of mine wouldn't come out without destruction, so I needed new. Even so they're pretty darned cheap. In my build if it was under $20 I got it whether I needed it or not. I did pretty much all springs, all rubber, apex seals, and such.
