Question on the engine ground, air pump

Yo all.

Collecting the parts to do a comprehensive tune-up, and I figured that while I'm in the area changing the fuel filter, I'd replace the engine ground. I cannot get her in the air until Monday and due to circumstances beyond my control, the garage is currently overrun so I cannot get under there to verify myself the hardware size. If anyone can tell me what size nuts/bolts, and how long the ground cable is, I'd much appreciate it. Both the Haynes and FS manual are vague at best on even the location of the ground.

you may be better rebuilding the original ground cable. it generally is bolted to either the upper starter bolt or to the bellhousing bolt just behind the oil filter pedestal.

the reason for rebuilding the original harness is that the ground cable has a chassis ground at the LF strut tower which is also critical to a good grounding system. the foot for that connection is not very easy to replicate or find aftermarket.

The title of your thread mentioned Air Pump, but I missed you question about the air pump. Is it a stealth question?

:07: The ground mentioned in aaroncake's RX-7 grounding article. Not looking forward to trying to get at that bolt. At leas that answers my question about hardware size, thanks.

Yeah, I need to edit that out. Was going to ask about fab'ing a new air pump bracket (Lucy never came with one)
