Electrical connectors - t-stat housing

the fan switch broke off the engine harness and my fan switch is not is much better condition.

Any where to get replacement connectors-besides ray?

TitaniumTT 10-24-2010 05:43 PM

Why not cut the connectors off and crimp on some new ones. Skies the limit but with the amount of A's those draw I would go with some weather-paks or 280 series metri-packs.

Terminal Supply Co or Del-City.net would be the best places, but I believe they have a $25 minimum order. I have seen them @ Napa on occasion.

digi-key probably has the plug you want. or just re-crimp new plugs of a different style on. would be pretty easy.

:dunno:

sorry - a bit not sober - but how do you change connectors - if they have to fit the sensor?

Garfinkles Motor Works 10-25-2010 01:22 AM

I use GM weather packs .Just solder wire ,wires to the unit and install a GM connector .Cut the broken connector from the harness and put in the maching GM connector .I keep 1 wire 2 wire 3 wire and 4 wire ones in stock .They make a 6 wire one as well .I buy them by the box and have been useing them for several years.I solder on the wire wires to the sensor and fill the cavity with epoxie .

Thanks,

Rotary Performance gave the same advice. Where do you get your connectors?

also can a mod fix my typo in the title?

TitaniumTT 10-25-2010 08:08 PM

There are three places that I use, but I buy in bulk, regardless, I'd stock up. They're great to have around rather than waiting a few days

Waytekwire.com
TerminalSupplyCo.com
DelCity.net

Terminal Supply and DelCity have connector kits, I believe. Watch the A ratings though. Metri-Pak 150's are good for 14A, Weather-Paks are good for 25 or 30 I believe.

can you get them local? Napa, lowes, etc?

TitaniumTT 10-25-2010 08:44 PM

Seen then @ Napa a few times for sure..... How quickly do you need them?

hades 10-25-2010 09:10 PM

i would say this weekend--but its Halloween -- which is a drinking holiday - which means I will probably sleep/hate life sunday.

TitaniumTT 10-25-2010 09:38 PM

Ah, yeah, sadly I have to be at work friday-wendnesday at 7:00 or earlier.... so yeah, no fun for me this weekend...

do you need the 144.00 tool to install these?

TitaniumTT 11-04-2010 05:13 PM

No, the weather/metri packs can be installed with a $15 radio shack crimper, but it takes three different crimps to get them tight. The proper tool does a better job in one crimp. The deutch connectors on the other hand, or any mil-spec plug... I spent $320 on those crimps but OH MY GOD ARE THEY SOOOO SEXY....

hades 11-04-2010 05:46 PM

thanks. we use deutch at work. I thought of getting help from a EE there, but they are not my favorite people.
