AC conversion
All right, through the archives and threads, I found out that my R12 AC system (not running as far as I know) needs converted. Now what is involved in a r134a retro fit? Are there kits for this?
I need the AC running so i can drive this in the winter with the defrosters. From what I have been told, its missing the belt, and he believes its not charged. Can anyone help? |
You can either take it somewhere to get converted, or go to Advance Auto Parts and get the kit to do it yourself. It isn't hard. Just a matter of new fittings on the A/C high and low side.
Of course, you would want to get the system evacuated first, and be sure it pulls a vacuum before you waste time and money doing a retrofit. |
You can get the Freeze 12 kits too, this work ok (I tried it) and does not require evacuation of the AC system. I did lose the compressor about 2 years after the recharge though.
I guess the big difference between the R12 and R134A is the oil. |
Yea, someone told me about the Freeze12 kits. I think i will have to get the kit with a few bottles and a bottle of oil.
