84 AE86 turbo12a drift project (lots of pictures)
be aware a lot of pics!!!!!!!!!!
I picked this up a few months back and have been working furiously on it all winter trying to get on the track as soon as it opens! http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...201001646b.jpg this is how it started- http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...t/NewImage.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...rotarolla5.jpg 12a draw through t3 with a holley 650 double pumper perched on top http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...otarolla10.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...otarolla11.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...otarolla12.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...rotarolla7.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...rotarolla6.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...otarolla13.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...rotarolla9.jpg after taking everything apart in goes the new, 12a with a very large street port :driving: more power! http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...rotarolla3.jpg then cleaned and painted the engine bay http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...rotarolla2.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...rolla/roto.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...olla/2roto.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...otarolla/5.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...tarolla/17.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...tarolla/18.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...tarolla/19.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...tarolla/20.jpg finally I am here with the alternator remounted to the side, wires all hidden, new radiator mounted fd style with oil cooler mounted perpendicular to that- so no more bee hive and I can actually keep it cool, the last radiator was the stock one which restricted flow enough the initial owner just removed the thermostat http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...tarolla/24.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...tarolla/23.jpg I'm waiting for my Holley rebuild kit to come in the mail with new jets to hopfully get it running a little better this time around, it was previously set up to drag, idle was around 1800 and it flooded out constantly, not to mention eventually I plan on redesigning the way the turbo is set up so the intake is the lowest point more to come! |
Looking good!

interesting...
|
Very cool... not everyday you see one of these, let alone rotary powered....
|
I wanted to do a TII powered 86. cool project.
|
I thought about that but I didn't want an EFI set up so 12a was the way to go
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...lla/rx7042.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...lla/rx7043.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l3...lla/rx7041.jpg Fired her up Saturday to break it in, in desperate need of a tune but its almost ready :driving: |
Looks like it is in desperate need of some rust repair!!!
|
no actually, that back wheel is the only spot, and for an 80's Toyota I'm very lucky-
plus really no point in getting that into the cosmetics when odds are I'll wreck it before the end of the year |
Ah, I forgot, drift project.
Crash and burn. Sounds fun! |
