Which rotary do I take?

I can't make up my mind on which car I should take to DGRR. I have three to choose from. 1st is an RX-8 that is pretty much stock but with a new paint job. 2nd is my '93 RX-7 that I have had for about 7 years now and in need of a rebuild. 3rd is my project '93 RX-7 that is pretty much a shell right now, but I have about 50% of the parts waiting to go in. I THINK I can have one of the 7's up and running in time for DGRR, but there is that chance I won't get done in time.

What do I do? Work hard on one of my 7's or just take my time and enjoy the cruise in my 8? Is the tail more enjoyable in a 7 or an 8? Decisions...decisions...

Just my opinion but I say take your time, do it right the first time, and just bring one of the 7's next year. Drive the 8 and enjoy the good company of other fellow rotorheads without the stress. Although its always nice to see another 3rd gen, I would hate to see you miss something due to rushing yourself to prepare the car for the event. 8's are great, drive it!

8. In need of rebuild may not be fun far from home and you should take your time with the project.

Take the 8. You will have just as much fun as if you were in an FD.

They handle the Dragon quite well.

My personal experience, 8 makes it less nerve wrecking vs my FD. Its so much easier to drive the US129 and also more comfortable ride to DGRRX. I would take the 8.

Echo all the above sentiments. Give yourself plenty of time on the 7's, make sure you've covered all your bases. Besides, we all want to see the new paint on the 8!

Take the 8 and enjoy a nice relaxing cruise. Driving a 1st gen through the dragon is like running naked through the hills, but since you don't own one then just enjoy the comfort of the 8. :)

Thanks for the input guys! Looks like I'm taking the 8!

plus, the 8 is no slug on roads like this so it's not like you're downgrading performance by going with the 8. Enjoy and know I'm jealous of all of you that are going.

Mark, I'm going to assume that the above is a hypothetical comparison, not one based on actual experience. Please tell me I'm right!?!?

Strictly hypothetical my friend. :) I'm very much looking forward to chasing some more 8s through the twisties this year. But this year I think we should mandate that the midnight run be done in full monty. lol

Thank God for tinted windows. Are you going to caravan down with us?

I have no idea of how my schedule will be looking yet. Might end up heading down at the last minute, or could even be a few days early. All I know right now is that I am going, come hell or high water...
