SS turbo oil feed line upgrade
So ive been having this oil leak at the connection in the middle of the stock turbo oil feed line for a while now. How matter how tight i tightened it, it would still leak. so i ordered these parts for ss line upgrade. i know people have done this before, but here is what i did.. these are pretty common parts, but here is where i got them
24 inch braided SS Hose, 3AN Straight Swivel to 3AN 90 degree Swivel: http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pro....asp?Product=3 $24 12 x 1.5mm to 3AN adapter: http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pro...asp?RecID=5054 $18 1/8th NPT to 3AN adapter 45 degree http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pro...p?Product=3251 $6.59 T3 turbo oil inlet flange to 1/8th NPT http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant..._Code=ATP-FTG1 $15 http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...E/DSC01001.jpg hose assembled: http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...E/DSC01004.jpg and installed http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...E/DSC01009.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...E/DSC01012.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...E/DSC01006.jpg The hose is a little too long, a couple inches shorter would fit a little bnetter but whatever. and a pic of the car for kicks http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...E/DSC01016.jpg |
Did you use a (paper) gasket on the flanges?
I would never call this an upgrade, as you're introducing more chances of leakage from all the fittings. Also, chafing against the SS braided line would eat anything it comes in contact with. -Ted |
idk, it is whatever gasket mazdatrix sells

I did almost exactly the same thing with my line because it kept cracking. Somehow the turbo wasn't aligned JUST RIGHT so it kept breaking that hard line, even a new one, so I had a shop tap the old flange to fit an AN fitting and so on so forth. I think it's been like that for over a year now and has held up so far. I would like to replace the gasket and get a better flange. I didn't have to spend nearly that much though, maybe half that.

I make my own flanges this is on a 3rd gen about 3 weeks ago . I also shortened the stock line from the motor . The first pic was the fitting and line with the kit the sec pic is the one I made

IT cost me way less than $15 and the thing fits and looks better and the fitting is clocked as I needed ,threaded and brazed in . If it were your car that I was working on which one will you choose

can you make the flange end in 3AN fitting? that would save some $ too
edit oh just saw the pic.. cool that would be awesome, how much would it be? |
