Is that the fender? Or is that behind the drivers door?
I can cut that piece, but could you get me a larger view with some lines and dimensions on it? I don't know the extent of the damage or where you want to weld. Maybe it would be easier for you to replace the entire quarter panel (I can cut up from the taillight and up the seam under the door seal). PM me some info, can you pick this up or will I have to ship it? If you can pick it up, you can do the cutting yourself. Otherwise I will need more information and it will cost you something for shipping. EDIT: I didn't list this quarter panel for a reason, you will have to decide if the rust will be a problem. http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...C/PA190449.jpg The rust goes through the outer layer, but not the inner layer (could be fixed with fiberglass or a small piece of steel without much warpage). Just let me know more precisely what you have in mind. Anything not listed in the add is free to a good home (with the exception of the passengers quarter panel, which a buddy already got). Obviously shipping will have to be paid by you. If that is the front of the drivers fender, I think that I have that piece in good shape (I will look tomorrow). |
its right behind the driver door ill take some pic's this coming monday or tuesday. but it will have to be shiped i live in NC lol and the rust shouldent be to much of a problem. ill pm you when i get new pics

Mark on the pics where you want it cut. I am removing the doors and interior tomorrow and Sunday, so the body should be pretty well ready to cut up.
Having done some body work, I can guess a spot to cut that should give minimal warpage and require the least seam work, but I would just as soon you decided as you will be doing the body work. |
I need both rockers depending on price. I'm in VT at 05855, shipping quote? basically I need the entire rocker from front of door (up to fender) and back to rear wheel well, cut up to the bottom of the door and preferably at least back to the seam weld or including the seam weld area on the bottom of the car. my rockers are basically non-existant but the rest of the car is rust free! let me know on price and if you can do this.

Let me get the rockers off the car and I will decide if they are worth anything.
From the outside, they look good. However, the car was repainted by the PO and they covered up some problems. Oh yeah, I edited the original post edit: Here are some pictures (forgive the terrible quality, I am not a photographer) I could swear that this car has rusted more in the last two months of using good garage space than in several years in the field. I don't remember the surface rust starting up the lip. http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...C/PA260450.jpg http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...C/PA260451.jpg http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...C/PA260452.jpg http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...C/PA260453.jpg http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...C/PA260454.jpg http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...C/PA260455.jpg http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...C/PA260456.jpg http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/t...C/PA260457.jpg I am a bit slow at cutting this car up. I really need the garage space too, I just have to work/travel for work too much. |
hey man i really apologize for leaving you hanging for so long. Iv been really cought up here lately. I will try my best to get those pics in the next day or 2 if you still have the car. PM me and let me know if you do, bc ill get a txt to my phone so i can get back to you faster. thx

how about the panel between the passenger rear tire and the bumper. you could cut it right where the top of the trim starts.

are the rear quarters good? I only need the outer shell nothing structural

any word on the rockers yet?
|
Sorry, I am out of the loop - no word yet.
I broke the transmission in my '86 again and am trying to figure out how to fix it. This is on hold for a while. |
well, just forget about me then. shipping would probably be expensive anyway. I'll just fab something up. my sideskirts from my widebody kit will cover them anyway. I need to get started on this as I have a lot to do to the car but that is the main concern right now as I may end up driving it this winter too.

I would be more worried about damage in shipping than cost, a reasonably sized piece only costs about $20.00 to ship anywhere in the US. I am sorry that I have let this slide. Maybe I can get back to it in a couple weeks, after I figure out this transmission issue enough to get the '86 in the garage. |
no worries man, and POR-15 is king. I am sanding and POR-15, then hercu-lining the whole under carriege. I drove the 7 with summers up front and half gone all seasons out back last winter when I wrecked up my subie and she did fine. even took her out on dirt back roads (my parents live out there) and made it. just need to keep it in high gears and control the throttle and clutch in constantly on the back roads, was fine on main roads, just took me a bit to get going cause little traction. I hate driving it in the winter anyway though so I'll try not to. don't want anymore rust then I already have.

I know this is a bit of a stretch, but I was wondering how the front crossmember bolts look under the car and if you could cut the frame around them for me to dremel those tab welds off of them and press them out? I removed mine because I noticed a ring of rust at the base of the thread as I was in the process of putting my crossmember back on and discovered the bolt was in really bad shape. I also took out the other one just to check and it was fine, but i ended up damaging the threads in the process (couldn't swing the soft-face hard enough to move it so I had to start with a real dead blow first). Just let me know if you could cut me a pair.
Thanks. |

However, I have a lot to do at work, traveling a lot, etc. so please don't expect me to get to this for a couple months. I wish that I got this car cut up sooner, but it seems to always be the lowest priority project. Maybe on Friday I can get down to the garage and take the front crossmember off to assess the condition of the bolts. This assumes that you want the part of the box-frame which they thread into, or do you want part of the crossmember and part of the frame with the bolts still in it? I will probably use a torch or sawzall on this part of the car, so either way is fine. I will get pictures and get back with you, the underbody is not in very good shape on this car. |
long chance.. but do you still have the car?
