Wanted to know when the list and registration starts ;)

bigtony08 08-04-2009 07:25 PM

count me in!!

djmtsu 08-04-2009 07:50 PM

Hells yeah!! Lets do it!!

WE3RX7 08-04-2009 08:21 PM

I'm down for it, three years in a row would be nice. Its been better every time!

05rex8 08-04-2009 10:01 PM

I was just thinking about this when I logged on here.
I will be there for sure!

My turbo 8 is now water/meth injected. I wanna try it out on the dragon :)

muibubbles 08-05-2009 01:36 AM

i am only keeping my car for this yearly event..... me and my friend dont even mod our car cuz we want to, we mod if FOR the dragon tail ;) im DEFFFFFFF in for a second year coming !!!

Herblenny 08-05-2009 05:57 AM

I haven't really looked into this yet :) But it will be sometime in April of 2010... usually 2nd or 3rd weekend in April..

djmtsu 08-05-2009 07:40 AM

I am hoping for Fontana Village this year. I enjoyed it there, and it is so damn close!!!

Herblenny 08-05-2009 07:49 AM

If we have it at Fontana, I'll either get rid of saturday night banquet or increase the registration fee to compensate for the FEE Fontana charges me.

I'll start a poll here and see what people prefers..

Poll on the top.. Its for 60 days.. If one place is voted higher, I will highly consider vs the other.

SPICcnmFD 08-05-2009 08:20 AM

How about Maryville, or Townsend? Maryville is a pretty good size city, and Townsend is about like the others, and I dont' think they are any further away than Nantahala. Plus Townsend is only about 20+min from Pigeon Forge. Just a suggestion, I'm not sure if you want to change it that much or not.

darthrotary 08-05-2009 08:32 AM

It is a hard decision for the poll. I like both places for different reasons.
Fontana- its close and no obnoxious driveways for the cabins.
Natty Village- Its closer to the stores and the cabins are better.
So I went with I don't care where, I just want to see some rotaries AND drive the Dragon!

The reason I started this was because I really liked where I stayed at Natty Village this year. So I kinda want to get the ball rolling towards working on a date, so I reserve it again ;)

djmtsu 08-05-2009 11:16 AM

Fontana has a grocery store on site. That is where we bought all our food and beer the first couple of years.

I have no problem with paying more to be a Fontana. The ability to run back to my cabin, or limp the car back to a safe place to work on is important to me. Staying at Natty meant planning to be out all day long, since the drive to get there was so great.

FerociousP 08-05-2009 11:24 AM

The gas savings alone will be worth the increase in price. We drive literally right past Fontana just to get to the Gap anyway...

funkspectrum 08-05-2009 05:51 PM

I'm in this year again. This time I'll be driving out and caravaning with folks I pick up along the way.

I'll be doing a photoblog of the whole cross country trip...I just have to decide whether or not I'll be driving the FD or the 10thAE...

ZGN 08-05-2009 08:25 PM

:driving:

Awesome!
Looks like it's just the 2 of us who are willing to drive their rotary across the country!

Is anyone interested in a caravan from the Birmingham, AL or surrounding area to SevenStock. If so post on the thread below.

I love to do it but I don't I have the $ too do it

rx7mechusa 08-05-2009 11:58 PM

I dont honestly care, i live about an hour an a half from the mountain and when the dates are established ima take leave from the army and ill be at the house preping the 7.

FDSeoul 08-06-2009 01:07 PM

those of you who are willing to "cross country" their car to attend a event i have but one word for you guys. PURE PORNO!!!! i can't imagine being in the(transit time) FD more than 2 hours tops/max. After that it just becomes a pain in the rear and becomes a hate issue.

Herblenny 08-06-2009 01:12 PM

^^I hate to admit but I kind of agree.. after about 4-5 hours in an FD on a long straight interstate road, I want to kill myself... But if you are breaking it up every 2-3 hours and not in a hurry with several FD's, it quite fun :) Caravan part of road trip was one of my favorite part about going to an event..

afgmoto1978 08-06-2009 02:24 PM

I don't know, I did the 1K+ trek to sevenstock with Jeese okay. Again, I have super comfortable Evo2 Sparcos though, so eh. Next year maybe.

MaczPayne 08-06-2009 05:22 PM

I'm also thinking about doing the road trip there with my FC for next year's event. Mike, we could roll together if you'd like! Nader, you too! I think I'll still be on spring break then :)

I've driven nonstop from here to norcal and back to socal in one day, no problem, in the FC! It has those Corbeau Forza's people love to hate too

jjaesmith 08-06-2009 11:09 PM

Fontana Dam

I think Fontana would be more suitable for our event, because all of us second and first gens get jammed over into the gravel pit at Nantahala and very few people venture over there and there are some pretty nice cars that people want to be seen too, even if its not the most shiny. Also the event is growing and Nantahala just doesn't have the room to hold us all.

jimmys79rx 08-06-2009 11:47 PM

Never been

I would love to hit a good rotary rally thats close by and thats close enough for me

FDSeoul 08-07-2009 04:09 PM

WoW, I would consider being a co-pilot for the journey rather than taking my own ride to the event. I think i would be more effective in offering my co-pilot service for this type of a road trip.

Take the 10thAE, without a doubt and make the trip back with us up north ;) I'll make sure I get more time off so we can actually have some fun in the city, hit Boston, maybe even Maine??

This year was ridiculous,
Hey Shar, why don't you head back to NY with us
OK
Hey AJ, you should join too
OK

Maybe that's the great thing about shitty gas mileage? We were stopping every 210-230 miles to tank up, stretch, bitch about tickets, play musical cars, nap in Neatos honduh. The trip down though was just pure go. My fault for leaving 11 hours late I guess. Strait through from 1 in the morning to 5 the next night with a two hour stop for a nap and a shower. Soooooo looking forward to doing it again though. Best rotary gathering ever Phil. I don't care where you have it, (I've not experienced Fontana so I can't intelligently vote) I'm just looking forward to attending again.

Yeah Johnson, I have those seats too. I also have a bad back and a bionic knee and I had no problem driving it strait either. The passenger seat sits higher and farther forward when using Corbeau's mounts so maybe that's the problem? Whatever, you should def make that trip out with Nader and Mike.

Seems like there are three or four people making the trip from the west coast, or considering it. Musical cars helps, balls deep in a few others is fun, non-stop would be a bitch but doable with enough redbull and stripclub stops. Shit, by 5:30 the friday morning of DGRR I was on 44.5 hrs of no sleep to get the car done. It was awesome..... then I nodded off in my Corbeaus for 2 hrs why someone else drove it to the hotel..... DGRR was about the most fun I have had in a LONG time. Can't wait to do it again.

I'm a short bastard, so I fit in the corbeaus pretty nicely. Helmet clearance is a small issue though, but it has not really bothered me.

Yeah mike, you could co pilot if you want to... We could take turns driving. But it would be more bad-ass to have each of us in our own cars :)

funkspectrum 08-09-2009 04:55 PM

Mike. I'm planning on photoblogging the caravan. Want in on it?

Herblenny 08-09-2009 05:03 PM

Sweet!!

Also, for next year, I have a special guest for the event.. Hope the economy turns around so more vendors will help out with getting this new "guest" :)

For 7Stock, I'll be bringing few DGRR shirts to giveaway and also to sell ($10 each). If you are heading to 7stock, let me know and I'll see if I have your size and hold it for ya :)

Awesome, I'd love to join up once y'all get out here. :icon_tup:

My vote is for the AE, not just because it's only one of the two FCs I'd ever consider owning, but it would be a nice 'tribute' drive for Mark.

Haha, I came to hate (and I know one lil lady despises:lol:) my exhaust after I got through Arkansas. Ended up listening to it drone on and on for another 2k miles on that trip and I still haven't bothered to do anything about it yet.

I haven't seen the other venue but sticking all us FB guys over by the dumpsters was rather unplesasnt and a bit insulting, what were they tryin' to say?!

The whole trip/experiance was awesome and it was a pleasure to meet you Brian. Being self-employed has it's perks, unlimited time off being one of them.

I think everyone got some sleep on that drive but me, no one wanted to drive the ol' FB after those NoVa douches.

Remind me to bring my mazda pillows next time too old man. ;)

A big +1 to that.

Would you mind saving me one? I got oil all over mine and would like clean replacement, medium please.

Maybe no-one wanted to drive the FB prior to that? Ya never know  I would've, but the droning would interfer with my hearing aid. NoVa is a special place, so special that it should only be visited once. Those pillows were awesome, so yeah, definately bring them again.

Haha, yea but at 70mph it droans on like a dying cow that just...won't...die...

:squint: Don't make me call in re-inforcements.

Touche' but I don't remember most of that event and I don't remember actually sitting down and talking to you(or anyone else for that matter) at SS. Actually, the only think I remember about you from SS is "I'M NOT AN ANGRY PERSON!".

Damn straight, I won't shed a tear if I never have to go back through there.

I'm thinking about making the trip again too, but I might put my stock suspension back on for that, 1600 miles on coilovers might not be much fun :) If I do end up making the trip, I'll try to design a FD shirt this time as well.

Well I hope to go. I'll pay for the event like usual. But the last two
years I've had something come up last minute :( and right now
I have the 7 apart! Hoping to have it finished by spring! We'll See!
