Who's thinking about going??

Who's thinking about going??

I talked to Dale Clark yesterday and he was interested in going.. Anyone else?

lt1_fd3s 06-01-2009 09:50 AM

i'm sure i'll be back out there again this year...

David Jerome 06-01-2009 10:44 AM

Im in again, I would prefer to go out for about 4 days this time though to actually get too see some of Cali

Herblenny 06-01-2009 11:10 AM

All pending what my wife's vacation is going to be... if it works out, I'll be out in SoCal for like 10 days. Otherwise, me and the wife would have to take separate vacation or I would have to fly back to SoCal like last year..

ZGN 06-01-2009 04:32 PM

I give it about a 80% chance that I will be driving my FD up there this year. Who's comming with me? I'll be leaving from Birmingham, AL

Phoenix7 06-01-2009 04:54 PM

definitely will be there.

DO IT!

Unfortunately, I don't have time to do that.. I would otherwise.. maybe :)

MotoTek 06-01-2009 10:17 PM

I'm trying to finish my car, but we'll see. I don't want to throw the twins back on.
I'll be cruising down with the rest of the NorCal guys if I do.

Its about 2000 miles... One way :)

Say 600 miles a day (10 hours of driving a day) will take about 3 days..

If you do 1000 miles a day (approximately 14-16 hours), 2 days

I say a good solid week to go there and come back..

if the cars not sold......i'll tag along.....

ZGN 06-02-2009 11:02 AM

Selling you car! Nooooo!!!
Either way I might be looking for a passenger to ride along to split the travel expenses.
Or a vendor or two who would like to be a sponsor!

That would be round trip $600 in fuel cost if we are @ $3/gallon!
I bet if I drove staight through I could make it in less than 30 hours!
I'll need to get my AC reinstalled for sure!

Phoenix7 06-02-2009 12:16 PM

NO way, 30 hours? I say 42.

Herblenny 06-02-2009 02:11 PM

LOL! Friend of mine just moved to SD and they just got there.. They left Bham on saturday afternoon :)

I've done 16 hour non-stop from St. Pete, FL to NYC (1100miles) back when I was in college by myself.. And I was in shape and I was still beat up by that trip. Doing double the mileage in an FD sounds like a nightmare to do it non-stop (no sleep over). Seriously, I think best you could do is break it up in 2 days.. 1000 miles a day, sleep somewhere and get to Irvine day before to relax.. otherwise, you'll be too beat to even enjoy the event...

This is what I'll do.. Leave early wednesday, get to tx somewhere that night.., leave early thursday get to CA that night.., sleep late friday, enjoy the CA weather and hangout, and hang out with some rotards on friday night, saturday, sunday, leave CA early... come back to Bham late tuesday night/early wednesday.. Its still a week trip :)

I have been riding my bike everyday, getting back in shape. I am going to pull this off in 30 hours or less! I would still leave a few days in advance to allow for sleep when I got there! Maybe we can put it in the record books. Quickest time from Birmingham to Irvine in a FD.

Phoenix7 06-02-2009 04:10 PM

OK Kev....I think you'll be exhausted as hell and pass out when you get to Irvine.

Took me 42 hours to go from Ohio to CA non-stop with Brooke and it was NOT fun. We literally only stopped to eat.

I wanna see this.

Herblenny 06-02-2009 05:00 PM

Do it zgn!! Do it!!

Damn, that would be like 44 hours if I were to go. I really want to make it to Sevenstock, but I don't know if I'll be able to this year (no monies :()

Phoenix7 06-02-2009 05:48 PM

Start saving now!

yeah, it was tiring....there's a pic of me asleep at the wheel.....we switched soon afterwards.

Left Ohio at noon and got home on Monday morning before class...it was finals week too. I loved that 7.

WE3RX7 06-08-2009 02:49 PM

Its a week before my wedding or I'd be down for flying out! Its a dream to drive out there one day with my FC. I know 2gslse did it this year when he bought his latest FB. From Long Beach, CA to Upper Northwest VA took 3 days...

afgmoto1978 06-08-2009 05:51 PM

I might do a flyby from NV on that Saturday.

ZGN 07-21-2009 11:18 AM

I can fit a 10" canopy tent, a 6 person tent, tools, floorjack, 2 fold out chairs, sleeping bag, 5 gallon cooler, and a lot more in my FD and still close the hatch.

who is comming with me from Birmingham, or from the east coast?

Also I just found out the silver state challenge is the weekend b-4 seven stock. might try to make it out there 1st!

Herblenny 07-21-2009 11:28 AM

I bought my air ticket to 7stock :)

HArd Kore, If u make this trip you r the man:driving:.
I'm Glad to see so many of you guys are planning on coming back to the event.
Must have been fun last year:):seeya:

ROTORX7Holly 07-21-2009 09:35 PM

I have always wanted to caravan out to 7Stock, since I first flew out in 2004. I have driven my car to events on the east coast that were like 800 miles. It takes coordination and support from all involved, but it is fun. I guess, since I don't have a 7 now, I won't be making a drive out anytime soon. :seeya:

AwakenNoMore 07-22-2009 08:40 AM

I don't have any plans to make it out yet. But, hmmmm, it would be fun to get a seat on a drive out there. That would be an experience. :driving: Anyone have an extra 7 they need driven out there? Mike, I think you should transport your 7 to Atlanta and I can hitch a ride out with you. I'm crazy, when I need to be.

Holly

FDSeoul 08-10-2009 06:23 PM

I'm too OLD(know better than to) to be putting myself in harms way. Any driving in the FD has to be within or under 2 hours. Anything over 2 hours in the FD just becomes hate.

I hope you guys make it out this year to the event.

MaczPayne 08-11-2009 02:07 PM

I'll be there... In my big-ass sombrero. Beats an umbrella any day!

Proxy One 08-11-2009 02:23 PM

Im thinking of coming out if I dont go to Vegas that weekend. I already have the time off so its one or the other. Where is everyone staying in Irvine? David, Tray, Holly when are you guys going? I have thursday-monday off already and wanted to go ahead and take some extra days to check out some more of Cali If I go.

lt1_fd3s 08-11-2009 02:40 PM

i'm looking to take thrusday - tuesday off and fly out to San Fransico...ride down with Nader and then Michael said we'll find room for me to sleep somewhere, most likely at what ever the hotel is for the event...

I need to request my vacation and get my flights... i've been lazy this year on many things...

Herblenny 08-11-2009 03:13 PM

I'm flying in friday night to SD (where my brother is). Then I think saturday morning, I'm heading up to Irvine with a former work friend of mine who moved out to SD.. He's not much of a car guy and might get bored out of his ass.. I better explain that to him just in case.. If not, I'll borrow my brother's car and drive up there or hitch a ride with someone :) I would prefer the later if someone from SD would give me a ride :)

lt1_fd3s 08-12-2009 08:01 AM

hmm... i think i've waited too long to get my travel plans... and mix it with my brother's b-day being 2 days prior... i may not be out there this year...

ZGN 08-19-2009 11:26 AM

What, dude get your A%$$ out there.

lt1_fd3s 08-19-2009 01:44 PM

well kids... vacation is taken... flights are booked... i'll be in cali for 7stock!

Herblenny 08-19-2009 01:49 PM

swa WEET!

ZGN 08-19-2009 03:14 PM

WOOO HOO! sure you don't want to cancel and drive over? I need someone to ride with me to help split the cost of travel and to help drive :)

If you could help with least $250 = 1/2 of fuel out there and back
plus 1/2 of hotel stay when were on the road $150/to $250 staying at the cheep locations, depending on how often we stop to sleep.

I'll pay full cost for the stay at Doubletree for friday, sat, sun!

And I am in recession mode so I'll be staying at the cheep locations overnight! Your on your own for food beer etc. :)

I would be leaving on Monday eveing/Tuesday morning and leaving to come back back on a monday/tuesday.
