Here are few pics of my project for the Exedy booth at Formula Drift ATL..

My buddy Leo (AbadR1) painted the bumper (type2R), fenders, and help me install it. All done from last tuesday night (after 5PM) and early thursday morning (3AM)... Not bad for start painting to install :)

Beautiful...

Brent 05-10-2009 04:52 PM

Looks good Phil. I really like the 3rd and 4th picture.

Herblenny 05-10-2009 05:00 PM

Thanks..

I need to do something about seeing the ground looking into the bumper opening.. I hate that!!! I did use 99+ MS undertray that Shine is replicating but it still shows the ground at certain angle... I'm going to try to fix that next weekend.. and build some sort of oil cooler duct..

RotaryRoadRage 05-10-2009 07:28 PM

gap or not , that mofo is still super clean..by the way.. how's that cosmo doin ? ;) lol

imstillonjava 05-10-2009 08:17 PM

Absolutely beautiful. Makes me think I should have kept mine montego blue too. Any higher res of pics 8-10 available?

rotorhead87 05-10-2009 08:38 PM

I envy you for all of your possessions I wish I could have!!! Beautiful FD is all I can say.

MotoTek 05-10-2009 08:49 PM

Phil, your MBFD is just so clean. Tastefully modded both interior, exterior, and engine wise.
3rd pic is my favorite. Nothing better than a garage with 2 FD's sitting inside being worked on.

BuLL 05-10-2009 08:49 PM

Wow, love it!

Herblenny 05-10-2009 08:58 PM

Thanks for the compliments...

very nice

Swif 05-20-2009 11:28 PM

I like that bumper. How does the car drive with that bumper? Does this get reed of the light feeling when driving at around 100 mph? My car seems to get light around this speed then seems to settle down a little at about 120 mph.

I also was looking at the same hood. See this comb on you car was great for me. I have a 95 MB. I think I may go with a differant hood. I like the look, but I think I want something a little differant then the look you have with that hood.

Great looking car and as others have said, "tastefully done."

Herblenny 06-07-2009 08:42 AM

It might be all in my head.. But the car feels bit more stable over 110 (gotten up to about 130-140). I did however tried by best to cover the underside of the front bumper using MS undertray and stock undertray. Also I have the Feed Canards and oil cooler ducts.

Here are few more pics from yesterday..

nice photo work. It looks like you cleared out the whole city to take these photos, almost not another car or person in sight!
:)

dregg100 06-07-2009 10:10 AM

you need less offset on the front wheels, but looking good other than that.

Herblenny 06-09-2009 06:28 AM

Kevin, It was early in the morning.... Now I'm playing around with the pics to bring out some color.. Here is a rendered pic..

dregg100, I think its good.. If I bring it out more, I think it will start hitting my fender liner. As of now, it doesn't rub anything at all

Brent 06-09-2009 10:05 AM

Looking good as always Phil.

lol, yeah downtown Birmingham early in the morning is pretty vacant... Phil your car is pure sex on wheels.:001_005:

RCCAZ 1 06-21-2009 09:31 AM

Hey Phil,

Looking awesome as always. Been buried at work the last 3 weeks straight, hence my reason for not responding to you on last year's Deals Gap shirts. I'll be in touch once things settle down at work... promise.

Hey, on your brake rotor setup, are those 99 spec brakes or just stock calipers with aftermarket cross-drilled rotors? Just curious since I'm thinking of upgrading my brake rotors in the near future and I love how yours turned out!

Thx!

Herblenny 06-21-2009 09:45 AM

No Problem.. I thought you were mad at me or something..

They are RX front and rear, stock RZ rotors that are custom drilled by David Garfinkle. Cross drills are harmocially balanced and has a beveled edge. Great amounts of works been put on drilling all those holes and top notch works been put on by David.

Does David have a website or sell them somewhere? I've got his oil pan brace and love it. Let me know where I can score a set of those rotors.

Tim

David is on this forum.. Garfinkle Motor Works.

You would have to send in your stock rotor and he will drill them for you..
Send him an PM>

Here is my updated UIM...

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e7...y/RWTBUIM3.jpg

UIM I had for about 5 years... Garfinkle did his magic polishing, welding, opening up the inside, etc... I never used it because I was waiting on my larger ported stock TB... which I never got.

But since I have the Rotary Work TB, I thought I use it instead of the stock one I had on.

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e7...y/RWTBUIM4.jpg

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e7...y/RWTBUIM2.jpg

All the un necessary nipples are cut and welded... for cleaner look.

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e7...y/RWTBUIM1.jpg

All the emission junk have been taken off..

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e7...y/RWTBUIM5.jpg

and hole was cut on the top for uniqueness...

prrex4ever 06-17-2010 07:46 PM

Luv the new wheels, car looks great with them.

Rotary13B1 06-19-2010 01:36 AM

I think Phil is a street pharmacist! Straight up baller!

Herblenny 06-20-2010 01:32 PM

Alright.. For father's day, I had to go in to work for couple hours.. And thought I take the FD and test out the new TB and the wheel w/ 15mm front spacers.

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e7...nny/XD91-1.jpg

RW TB - I did noticed a slight low end bog. But it was pretty slight. But the rev through seem bit faster.. it could be just my imagination though.

Wheels - I just love how they look on my MB. I have slight rub on the passenger side after 15mm spacer.. I'm going to find out where its hitting and try to fix it. But the stance is perfect!

Drivability with these wheels seem pretty good. I was coming back home and this M3 got behind me and started to follow.. I'm running about 10lbs of boost and through the twisty downtown hill side, the car felt great. Maybe bit better on turns... again, it could be my imagination as I been driving my daily TL and haven't driven the FD in about 2 weeks.

Here is another pic with my riced out LED lights on :)

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e7...nny/XD92-1.jpg

And....

with the HID FEED signal lights and the LED wanna B lights..

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e7...lenny/XD93.jpg

Yes!! I admit, I'm a ricer at heart.. But at least I admit and also trying to build a classy FD (My SSM) :)

project86 06-20-2010 03:58 PM

i dig LEDS. They really dont look bad.. maybe that means im a ricer too...

SyndicateMotorsports 06-21-2010 05:45 AM

is it okay to ask what your brake setup is? those are the best looking rotors ive seen on stock brakes.

They are Mazda RZ rotors custom drilled by David Garfinkle. David does awesome job and I highly recommend him!! They are also harmonically balanced.

Herblenny 06-30-2010 08:20 AM

New Mirrors..

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e7...PRmirrors1.jpg

speedjunkie 06-30-2010 09:06 AM

What mirrors are those Phil? That's awesome they fit over the stock holes, no need to have them filled in.

I like the LED lights too. I also like the HID turns, so nice and bright.
