So we are not alone!!

Well I stumbled across this link.
http://www.tennspeed.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=95404

Maybe good people, I don't know? I hope its just not a bunch of Honda's

85rx-7gsl-se 02-28-2008 05:55 PM

Yeah, I am a pretty active Tennspeed member. Most of the guys coming down do drive Hondas, but they are pretty good guys and have pretty clean cars for the most part. Can't vouch for all, but it shouldn't be a problem :)

Even if it is a bunch of honda's, I don't think they will top the 90+ (and still growning) Mazdas that will be attending DGRR. Best case is, it is a bunch of good guys and most will be hunting for a rotary after the event.

djmtsu 02-28-2008 06:08 PM

The only issue with the guys from Tennspeed is that they are YOUNG and act like it. I just hope they do not ruin it for us. I know Phil does not need the headache. The event was posted there in the Events section, but I do not believe any of them are actually paying attendees. I could be wrong though, Phil would know for sure.

I dont' think they are, one of the posts on that thread states they are not a part of DGRR he just scheduled it at that time so there would be plenty of cars for people to see. Also mentions how DGRR is a paid event where theres is a donation for hotels etc.

one320fc 02-28-2008 06:24 PM

The only thing that really concerned me was end up with some Kid in whatever kinda car headed in your direction out of control!

djmtsu 02-28-2008 06:34 PM

That is exactly what I was referring too when I said YOUNG!

I am NOT against whipping some 16yr old kids ass.

85rx-7gsl-se 02-28-2008 09:18 PM

DJ, have you looked at the attendee list...

I don't think any of the Burn Unit Team Franklin are coming so you shouldn't have to bust too many heads :D

djmtsu 02-28-2008 10:09 PM

I know about the Tennspeed list, but have they paid Phil to be in the Official DGRR 2008?

85rx-7gsl-se 02-28-2008 10:25 PM

No. They are doing a Poker Run from Nashville to the Gap. They decided to coincide the event with the Rotary Rally because they thought it would make a good opportunity to use there photography skills and see some slick cars. They aren't staying with us or anything, just enjoying the view 8)

Herblenny 02-29-2008 11:28 AM

No they haven't registered.. And i'm also crossing my fingers that they will behave...

Please let them know that parking will be tough and it might be farther away. Also, let them know not to come by before 11 as we would be setting up all morning..

85rx-7gsl-se 02-29-2008 01:35 PM

Phil, I went ahead and posted this on Tennspeed....

Hey guys,
Here is a direct request from Phil (Herblenney), Organizer of the Deal's Gap Rotary Rally going on the same weekend as a Poker Run.

1.Please be safe.
2.Parking will be tight at the actual rotary meet so for those who wish to come by and view the cars, you may have to park some distance away.
3.Please wait till after 11am on the 12th to come by the rotary meet site as they will be preparing and setting up until then.

Can't wait to see you all there.

WE3RX7 02-29-2008 04:51 PM

I dont MIND another group being there, its public roads so we wouldnt have much say. My only problem is going to be that if we are paying for our event and they muck it up - I will NOT be happy and I am NOT a fun person when honda people piss me off. Just saying.

Otherwise, let them come and see the cars - so long as they know who's weekend it is and they dont cause any problems for Phil and the resort... I know being an organizer can be stressing and I'd hate for some yee-haw 16 year olds to come by and ruin our day of friendly rotary gatherings!

85rx-7gsl-se 02-29-2008 11:31 PM

^I really doubt it will be an issue. I mean, at last years event, we had local kids in Hondas and stuff tagging along. Hell, I almost got rear-ended by a Trans Am when we approached the 90degree turn on Hellbender, but it happens :( . Plus, since we are staying so far from the Gap, I kinda doubt they will be staying at the same place :)

fikren 02-29-2008 11:42 PM

and if they do screw up they stand to have 90+ rotor heads ready to "show them the error of their ways"

85rx-7gsl-se 02-29-2008 11:45 PM

True dat :D

Turbo II 03-01-2008 06:54 PM

As long as the Moped Club doesn't show up like last year. Nothing worse that having to follow a pink Moped through Deals Gap that won't pull over and let you pass...

85rx-7gsl-se 03-01-2008 07:06 PM

^ No worse than the old shit in the SC430 who wouldn't do over 15mph and wouldn't pull over. He completely ruined our run and this was when we were running the group runs on saturday :(

The main reason I might park the 7 and enjoy the views no matter what 7 I bring.

85rx-7gsl-se 03-02-2008 12:33 AM

I know how much we all hate Hondas, but I gotta admit, by far the fastest paced trip for me last year through the Gap last year was in the Miata following a Civic hatch and a 2000ish Celica. I think they were local kids and they "knew" that road.

I don't think its so much being against Honda but rather most of the idiots that drive a honda. Opps better watch what I say, my wife drives a honda. :willy_nilly:

85rx-7gsl-se 03-02-2008 12:59 AM

ROFL

Yeah, I live in a small town over run with dumb Honda ricers, but I think these guys are a little better :001_005:

fikren 03-02-2008 01:09 AM

well we have a couple of types of people here.

1st are the buy a cheap car like a cavalier or neon crew who then dump 25k into it, but no matter if its putting 800hp at the wheels at the end of the day its still a cavalier or neon.

Next are the younger ricer crew, buy the cheapest, oldest honda they can get their hands on, buy some cheap ebay body kit so now the car is 8 different colors and the kit doesn't fit and then they top it off with every "go fast" bolt on (like stickers, neon lights, chrome hubcaps, huge oversized exhaust tip on the stock muffler) that autozone or walmart offers.

Then you have your never ending mustang crowd and whats weird with them is no matter how shitty of a mustang they may have (barely runs, rusted out, etc) they all have that huge hood and think owning a mustang makes them special like once you are a mustang owner you are now in the elite of the elite of the auto world.

Then we have the old man crew. The guys that seem to have more money then they know what to do with. They are either in super nice hot rods that Chip Foose would be envious of or they are in something like a G35 or WRX that has 30k+ in mods done. Funny thing is though you never see them do anything or out anywhere save for the Saturday car meet/show in the walmart parking lot.

Other than that its all jacked up pickups with tons of money in off road mods yet they never take them off road.

85rx-7gsl-se 03-02-2008 01:15 AM

Wow, that sounds interesting, I will have to get done to Chatt town more often :)
Thankfully around here, most of the Honda guy's cars are all one color, most of them just buy them off one of those lots that throws on some cheap wheels and a fresh coat of paint and sells them to fast and the furious wanna-bees, but at least they are one color :) In Florida, the Hondas were the saddest looking pieces of crap and there owners thought the world of them

Pourman 03-02-2008 01:14 PM

Well it IS a public road , but hopefully our event won't be affected ... this is going to be a BLAST :)

spankle my wankle 03-13-2008 09:11 PM

tell em there is no way they are parking with us! rotary only where we park they can walk as far as im concerned even if their cars are nicer than mine!

85rx-7gsl-se 03-13-2008 09:15 PM

Buhaha  Good old Seth. Yeah, they aren't parking with the rotors cause I was allowed to a was driving a Miata, a freakin Mazda and I had to walk :( :D

FerociousP 03-14-2008 10:01 PM

I'm a bit worried. the younger people get on the gap, the bigger the chance of cops taking notice of the "spirited driving" and handing out tickets. now that I say that, I fall into that age, but in the 3 years i've been to the gap i've never seen anything worse than a wheel over the yellow... (at least in my group).

djmtsu 03-14-2008 10:19 PM

Bullshit!! Last year a Miata bit the dust, and the year before that Celica spun out trying to hang with Jon's RX-8!!

'Young' drivers+Deals Gap= Instant fucktard driving.

85rx-7gsl-se 03-14-2008 10:45 PM

I vaguely remember this Red Miata turning sideways on a 90degree blind corner :D

IH8DSM 03-14-2008 10:51 PM

nathaniel weren't you telling charles and matt how bad the cops were post to be have you heard anything new about that. I think matt said i get to tag along with them up there not sure yet.

85rx-7gsl-se 03-14-2008 10:54 PM

I haven't really heard anything. What Matt and Charles were saying is that the cops are cracking down on people who are filming runs. I know general enforcement went up significantly since that soldier died last year at the Gap when he wrecked his bike.

IH8DSM 03-14-2008 10:56 PM

Ah ok thought you said something about the cameras. I don't have a video camera but my point and shoot can do video so i'm gonna try and use that i think.

85rx-7gsl-se 03-14-2008 10:59 PM

My dad rode shotgun last year at the Gap and filmed with the top down, turned out pretty well. Charles's vid never turned out I don't think. The first run, the camera got bumped and filmed trees :( Then, the motor popped before the second vid run.

IH8DSM 03-14-2008 11:03 PM

haha i think hes hoping not to pop the motor again. May have to borrow a sony cam from my buddy and if we get pulled over toss it out of the truck and played stupid be like "what are you talking about officer we were heading to lowe's this is a truck after all" haha think they'll buy it

they weren't in our group..:driving:

'immature' drivers +Deals Gap= what you said.

85rx-7gsl-se 03-14-2008 11:16 PM

They road has a nice cliff along it so if ya toss it, he won't be retrieving the evidence:fawk:

IH8DSM 03-14-2008 11:18 PM

yea then id owe my buddy money haha and probably get arrested for throwing "drugs" off a mountain.

From what charles and them are saying i think it should be fun never been im kinda excited like a little kid before xmas haha

85rx-7gsl-se 03-14-2008 11:20 PM

It is really cool, but if you drive, your arms will get tired halfway through it :D
