Gas mileage, what you getting?
In my '89 GTU, (S5 mild port n/a, with RB mufflers an presilencer, emission's removed, AC components removed, aux sleeves an actuating rods removed, vdi open, heat-shielded cone air filter, 1/2oz. per gallon premix.) usually the range is from 18-25 MPG.
But with the latest tank, I got 27.6 MPG! Which is the highest I experienced in this car. On a regular day, the breakdown is probably... With city driving, I get about 18-20 mpg. Hwy & city, I get 20-22 mpg. Out of town RX7 meet or out of town trip, I get 22-25 mpg. But the latest tank I did, out of town trip, and hwy & city driving. Averaging 70 mph on the hwy. And got 27.6 mpg. Someday...30mpg...someday. :D |
I'm getting 18-20mpg city (15mpg on good days) and up to 25 hwy.
Intake, RB header, midpipe and HKS 52mm catback. Pineapple Aux. sleeves, SAFC (tuned to 11's = ~ 150rwhp), no premix, Avg 75mph. Good numbers BTW. 30 MPG seems doable. |
I'll post up my stats once I'm back on my home comp.
|
Right about 14 - 15mpg strictly city driving...
It'll creep up to about 17 - 18mpg once I start jumping on the freeway more. 13BT ported stock turbo stock IC 11 - 12psi Haltech E8 240hp at the wheels on a Dyna Pack -Ted |
I stopped keeping track a few fill ups ago, but before then... :)

S4 N/A with wired open 5/6th ports (haven't got around to fixing that). |
Here's my MPG from 12/07-6/08

I get about 18mpg combined, 22 on the highway.
s5 13bt + stock turbo 12psi + stock IC RB turboback MT LT8-s ~230whp |
all hwy driving without opening the secondaries I can get slightly over 20mpg (roughly...I'm converting from Km's) but when I'm denting the floor with the loud pedal its closer to 10 :( But it (was) fast as a scared monkey.

Avg'ing right around 20-24mpg on a stock block with out emissions running a RB header/presilencer and a straight pipe into a cheap ebay muffler, SAFC with about 10% fuel knocked out at idle to -4% at redline(still need too actually tune it better), an intake leak of some kind, either a gasket or one of the lower injector grommets, no ac/ps. And average MPH is 80+ during interstate travels and 60ish around town. 1-2 gear is always redlined before a shift, and sometimes 3rd as well. But i hope to better my numbers soon with a better CAI, instead of the cone on the end of the intake tube in the hot bay. Car also has an FD alternator an a ford escort Efan. Still need to get around to getting a cleaned/flow tested set of injectors installed and tidying up things but its driven everywhere I want it to go.

I believe 27.6 all highway. I get 24 mpg all highway and that's on an untuned N/A. A good tuning on a TII that stays out of boost can hit that. Now whether or not he actually got it, who knows. But I say it's possible.
|
I do not dive mine enough to keep track that well, but on the way back from DGRR, I averaged 28.5 MPG.
S5 TII, no emissions, RB DP & silencer, Apexi N1 EVO catback. |

The trip OD hit 400, and typically fill-ups were about 13 gallons - you do the math. Since I was doing such long distance driving, I wasn't going to take a chance and drain the gas tank that low - i.e. the fuel-low warning light never came on. If I really wanted to push it, the car would've easily hit 30mpg. This is driving between Sacramento, CA and Las Vegas, NV 100% freeway at speeds of 60mph to 80mph, just under the point where the secondaries kick in at 3,500RPM. Back then it was stock ECU (well, reprogrammed G-Force unit) with full exhaust on a 1987 Turbo II. Side note, I was able to hit 200 miles on a 10 gallon fill-up's. I only fill up 10 gallons at a time, and it makes calculating mileage easy now. Still tweaking the Haltech E8... -Ted |
fellas, hook me up in this thread:

well i did some more data entry, check out some of my recent mpg's:
21.6163311 22.7419719 23.6608230 20.9012464 23.6247829 23.9391513 24.2102469 21.1728627 25.8490566 23.2093093 |
I get 11 mpg.... fuck all of you.
Time to go stand alone and rebuild time. (The car is running 10's in the AFR range and I am SEVERELY heavy footed. I love my boost.) |
You're just a hater.
|
you're getting a happy 11mpg. If we were to calculate happy MPG we'd be in your boat.

yeah and I bet you're smiling everytime you're boosting with the pedal all the way down.
If you're not then those aren't happy mpg. |
Well once the engine is back in im sure he will be, it's a little strange boosting with half of the compressor wheel intact.

Oh, I smile alright, then fill her up with premium and I am still smiling.
It's worth it. |
Well, I was disappointed with my mpgs last Saturday.
I went to a rx7 meet in the upstate, drove around an in the mountains. I got gas once when I was up there, then yesterday. Results: 22.6 and 23.2 Well I guess thats my norm. I was hoping for 25 or better. |
Gosh.. I "feel" like I'm getting 12-14MPG in my T2 vert. If I wasn't so cheap and just top off the tank, I'd find out. Stop putting in 20 bucks at a time! lol
But I like keeping the needle around 4K in 3rd gear. |
90 GTUs 4.30 gearing
15-16 city 18-22 fwy |
without a tune on my fresh build...umm i say about 5mpg city and 10mpg highway. jeez thats horrible
|
im getting about 20-25 between city and high-way 13b non turbo. oh yeah does anyone know where i can get a drive shaft with replaceable u-joints
|
|
22 mpg the same is my f**n millina. BUT runs off of premium plus
|
my fiancee's vert gets about 20 with the top down all the time. The turbo im not too sure. I think above 20 on the freeway.
|
My latest fill up, I got 25.6mpg.
|
Toby you should come by and see the project. He is finally running and we acquried another turbo. Black and fully kited.
|
I get 12 to the gallon. 90 Turbo with TO4B 60AR ball bearing garrett turbo, 1000 secondary injectors, 680 primaries. Large street port. SAFC 2 with AVCR. 433 gears in the rear. Yeah, not cheap. I go about 200 miles on a full tank. Anyways,,,, yeah.
|
On average I'm getting about 9/10mpg in the city. about 24 on the highway.
Thats with running excessively rich. |
wait what rotary doesn't run rich...LOL
|
Actually, my '86 ran very lean on the Haltech (16.2:1 while cruising)
I could easily exceed 30 mpg with it. I got about 28 or 29 running around town (driving it like I stole it). Not too bad for 165 rwhp! The '91 gets 20 city and 25 highway (best was 27.2 mpg). |
So a couple weeks ago I took a trip up to Durham NC for a rally-x.
Before I left I filled up my tires to 35psi warm. I got 28.0 MPG!!! Then the next tank was 26.4 mpg. I normally don't think of over inflating my tires, but now I do, lol. |
My all stock '87 TII gets btwn 13-18mpg. My '83 race car 13b n/a gets about 7mpg est. ALL FUN and SMILIN' ! ! Friend of mine gets 25mpg in his '83 12a n/a. 80mph highway road trip.
