Looks like DGRR 2009 is ON!!!

I just got an answer from Nantahala Village and they are OK of us having it next year!!

So, Now lets decide on the date....

ZGN 05-01-2008 10:15 AM

April 11th - 12th

My5ABaby 05-01-2008 10:20 AM

:D +1 on 11-12th.

classicauto 05-01-2008 10:29 AM

In all honesty, it doesn't matter too much to me. But slightly later in the year (like end of Apr.) would lessen the chances of the Canucks having to leave when there's snow out lol

Although this year we narrowly escaped it hehe.

But whenever - sign me up!!

By this you mean that they are willing to take care of our demands? e.g. Pave the road up the mountains?

And as far as when, well you know I'm down for anytime!

Well, They are talking about that.. paving the road and such..
Also, they told me that they will have something by the tennis court as venue stage (bands and such). I guess we just have to wait and see:)

Also, I've found out that they have another property. I'm hoping to go check it out.. either for BOTD (if I don't goto Seven Stock) and let you all know.

What I really liked about Nantahala is the fact that we had the whole place to ourselves.. and hope those who couldn't stay there will book it earlier:)

HellBent 05-01-2008 12:54 PM

+1!!!! ROCK OUT! Soo.. Next year here yet?

Sounds great Phil!

RCCAZ 1 05-01-2008 01:36 PM

Hmmmm.... so are you planning a "long distance award" for those of us who may come from the SW US??

I did that one year... I think I gave away $100 worth of gas.. I might do that again, pending sponsorship and number of people who sign up:)

Pourman 05-01-2008 02:40 PM

WHERE is said "other property" ??

khronus79 05-01-2008 04:09 PM

I vote from the 9th to the 12th, this year's event was too short, there were too many things to do and not enough time to do them all. Also we should have a couple of organized runs through the dragon and the skyway.

sumdeus 05-01-2008 04:36 PM

Great, when do we sign up! :D

blwnrtr93 05-02-2008 02:51 AM

I'm in, and this time I'm bringing a babysitter (read grandma) ;)

Pourman 05-02-2008 03:01 AM

Gonna stay a WHOLE week next year ;)

zonblitz 05-02-2008 08:56 AM

Sign me up!

Herblenny 05-02-2008 09:03 AM

Ok guys...

well, I think I'm just going to pick our usual 2nd week of April, 9th - 12th.. 2009!

I'm going to contact Nantahala Village and we are going to block off 9th - 13th for DGRR 2009.

I'll officially announce it next week and open the registration.. I'll do it the same style of registration and such.

PHIL

My5ABaby 05-02-2008 09:05 AM

Count me in for 1st.... :p

Nexcis 05-02-2008 09:13 AM

What? I haven't 100% committed yet?? You are CRAZY!!

Pourman 05-02-2008 02:45 PM

No reservation yet , we just inquired about it , and they said "No problem" is all ... I wouldn't make the reservation until I knew YOU were 100% on Nantahala Village ;)

So, Now lets decide on the date....

It should be the week of 3/17-3/21. In there somewhere.

Pourman 05-03-2008 02:19 PM

SOooooo , is this a green light on NV ??

My5ABaby 05-03-2008 07:27 PM

The weekend of 4/11 > all.

orion84gsl 05-04-2008 09:26 AM

Same weekend as this year works for me, since I probably won't have as many mods to finish in two short weeks. I didn't have a problem climbing the mountain, but then again, I don't have a lip hanging two inches above the ground.

I can't go that weekend. So no, it doesn't > shit.

rx7111m 05-04-2008 10:44 AM

end of Apr. would be best

RCCAZ 1 05-04-2008 11:01 AM

If we "potentially" fly in, is there any place within a 100 mile radius that might do RX-8 rentals?

David Jerome 05-04-2008 06:25 PM

Phil, pm me the price of what they are charging you guys for the whole resort and how many people it needs to sleep. Remember me telling you about the company I used to work for. The location would be much more convenient for afternoon entertainment and much more entertaining to those whose wives would not like to be stuck 2 hrs out in the middle of no where.

The location would be right outside of pigeon forge and only about a 30-35 min drive to the far end of the dragon(lake area). The cabins would blow the ones we stayed in out of the water and all the roads would be easily accessible for the rx7s. Im sure I can get a good deal if we block off a bunch of the cabins but I am unsure of the current price you have worked with the place you used this year.

Being closer to pigeon forge we could go into town for dinner, go cart racing(would be fun to have a competetion and with a group this large we could get huge discounts at the nascar park) and the fact that the place is only about 15 mins off of I-40. Also the resort is building a cable sytem that you hang from above the tree tops that reaches about 55-60 mph as you are flying over the mountains on a pulley system. Just an idea and figured this way you could probably create even more growth for the event by encouraging people to bring their wives or families. www.sterlingspringsresort.com is the name of the site and the Full Day Spa will be completed by the time the event rolls around next year.

ZGN 05-04-2008 07:16 PM

Nice, Let me know when you guys are planning a test run :)
