April 14 thru 17, 2016. Think Phil posted that on book of faces & the other forum some time ago. At least that's on my calendar and I put in leave already for it :D

djmtsu 10-12-2015 11:06 AM

Yep, 14-17th of April.

Time to start doing.....everything.......again....

JL1RX7 10-12-2015 03:56 PM

TitaniumTT 10-12-2015 10:01 PM

wuss.

Buggy 10-14-2015 06:45 AM

I was trying to organize a huge group from Canada to come down, but no one really wanted to commit to it. That early in April us Canadians could still be stuck in a snow bank! I need to talk to Phil about possibly planning 2017 a little later in April. The Rx-4 needs to come back to DGRR! This time it may be on a trailer though. Then I'll throw the Evinrude on with it. Has there ever been a snowmobile at DGRR?

May El Nino ever be in your favor.

Seriously, I thought you Canucks were supposed to be tough?

:D

I was there the years that the go cart and the hercules bikes were there. Us Canucks are tough, we're just smart enough to know that driving in snow with race compound tires isn't a good idea. We learned the hard way in 2012....

You need a hitch with a tire rack!! Switch to summer tires somewhere around the border of Freedom and 'Merica!

That picture was actually taken in Summersville West Virginia on our way home, so that idea is no good either lol.

But, you'll have the tires heading home!! Your point is invalid!

Seriously though, I want to see the RX-4 again.

sen2two 10-15-2015 08:48 PM

So since I REALLY want to do this this year. How do I plan it out? Setting up for a place to stay and keep my car?

Are there places to camp out at near by?

When do entry tickets start being sold?

Phil will usually announce when registration begins here soon (before Christmas). Once you have registered, you can book a lodge room or cabin at the venue (Nantahalla Village). There are some people who do camp, but I have no experience. Because I like to be warm when I'm drunk :)

There's 2 of us going from Windsor. (RX8's)
My car is getting complete overhaul. Can't wait for 2016, missed this year.

If you plan to go again next year let me know as I'm going in 2017 come hell or high water. Next winter the Rx-4 will get a 5 speed and a rear end rebuild. Then it should be good to go.

Gregory Casimir 01-31-2016 02:16 AM

need money and tires.

oh and to rebuild my engine.

djmtsu 03-03-2016 03:42 PM

SO here's a disappointing bit of info.

As of this morning, there are 110 officially registered for DGRR 2016.

As of 2/9/2016, there were 209 VW's registered for Wookies in the Woods. Same weekend.

Community is slacking. Interesting to look at their rally support. They have a TON of sponsors, including VW America paying for their BBQ.

Sigh. We're like a group of orphans.

3 years ago we had 100 within the first week. It really feels like the enthusiasm has died a lot. I think that some of the drama from a few years ago hurt our numbers the last couple years. And we're a really small community compared to the VW guys I would think.

djmtsu 03-03-2016 05:56 PM

There is also less hype for it across forums, FB, whatever.

Drama over what? Awards?

I thought we go here to drive?

chibikougan 03-03-2016 06:37 PM

There is also always the last minute rush... Also lots of people with cars down I would say more going down then coming back.

^That. Plus of course the rotor head camaraderie and the drinking!

Johnny_K 03-03-2016 09:46 PM

Yea surprised more ppl aren't talking about it

reddozen 03-03-2016 11:00 PM

I've tried posting about it everywhere I can. I'm not much of a hype guy though...

2gslse 03-03-2016 11:01 PM

I know here are a few of us dragging on registration but the talk of DGRR here as of now is slow because so many use social media crap now :(
