Yet... however they're well on their way to killing someone, or themselves.

Here's ya one...
http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/Orde...U000628&po=628

this dude was passing us, weaving in and out of a line of 6 of us...

WE3RX7 04-14-2008 02:55 PM

Myself and my buddy both had to swerve out of a touring/sport bikes way when he laid his knees down and came into our lane on the way down the dragon...

Nice. Even better is there's no driver in the 8. ;)

BLKTOPTRVL 04-14-2008 03:31 PM

To the OP.

That is not a bad driver. That is an asshole driver.

Anybody get hassled by the black F150? i come up on the guy, and he pulls over to let me pass, just to get all up on my ass the rest of the way, all over the road and squealing his tires the whole time

edit: found him

sinequanon 04-14-2008 05:18 PM

the bf and I got behind a cruiser that was going slow, waited until they were infront of the county's SUV and literally stopped in the road and tried to wave us around. Um, no? That's just asking to get a ticket for passing on double yellow. Then they putt putted the rest of the way back to the store literally going 15mph. We both got the impression they were being assholes and trying to get other people in trouble. Did have a sport bike (red r1) pass us and that cruiser in a series of about 3 curves they just straightend out. Not cool...:banghead:

djmtsu 04-14-2008 05:26 PM

I didn't have any bikes pass me. Although a few nearly lost their helmets crossing the center lines when me, fikren, and RoughRex made a run.

well, it's expected. I hate the new bikers these days. NO respect for common sense while driving. I almost took a few out on our local backroads.

So, only 1 rx7 crossing the double yellow lines. That's good.

Dzire 04-14-2008 08:56 PM

That white trunk was act crazy this weekend, nearly had a head on. Also saw a bike thread thur two cars between lanes, almost causing us too wreck. By the way new to the site.

off topic but welcome to the site hope you find a good home here.

IH8DSM 04-14-2008 09:25 PM

i rode the line a little bit and probably crossed it some just cause it was my first time on the dragon and didnt wanna drop a tire off. that truck and car is crazy especially on blind corners. I almost hit a biker head on on hell bender guy was in the middle of my lane. Organ donors is all i can say

dregg100 04-15-2008 12:48 AM

oil drain off the turbo dripping onto the exhaust manifold. the worst part is, the leak is tiny and the only way for me to fix it is take everything off!

as far as crossing the line, the way i look at it, its alright if its not a blind turn.

DRTHVDR 04-15-2008 07:22 AM

It's NEVER okay to cross the line. On Saturday night the mini bikes were there and if anyone crossed the yellow lines anywhere they could have killed someone.
I was almost hit by a bike weaving between some RX-8's. If I hadn't been just cruising the Dragon I would have been hit by him.

dregg100 04-15-2008 10:54 AM

i was up there sat night, and last i checked riding mini bikes on a public road is illegal, especially if you are using flashlights for headlights. but i knew i was gonna catch hell for that statement.

I don't see a huge problem if you can see a 100 yards (or whatever) and you go over a bit. There's a time when it's dangerous and a time when it's not. Knowing the difference is key.

This is just how they do it where I'm from. Nobody stays on their side until they need to be (blind turns or when someone is coming). Hell, a ton of the roads don't even have lines.

I'm going to have to agree with this. Granted, I don't want to say it's OK to endangre the minibikes... but they're assuming a huge risk by just doing what they're doing. I think it's pretty idiotic, but that's their choice.

N.RotaryTech 04-15-2008 07:05 PM

The way I look at it is, most of the time you don't go over the yellow line taking curves that go to the right. And theres no clean or good way of making your speed though those turns any faster.

So why go over the lines when taking curves that go to the left, since there are ppl taking photos of you, ppl bitch at you when they see these photos or are behind you or infront of your car and see you, and there might be a vehicle in the other lane.

IMO, They are right to call out those "line crossers" and call them "asshole drivers."
US-129 isn't a race course.
I'm surprised we don't get bitched at for speeding on US-129!

Turbo II 04-15-2008 08:17 PM

After I passed the mini bikes Saturday night I had thoughts of coming around a corner and finding one in front of me poking along and mowing him over. And after the cop at the lookout I decided it was time to slow down the rest of the way to the bridge. Then again, on the ride back it was business as usual.

You never cross the yellow line unless there is a good reason. As in being waved around or the likes. The speed limit use to be 50 up there... most people can't handle 30. I was amazed looking through all the pics from various sites at how many people were on, over and way over the line.

I do think I saw more bikes pushing the line and/or going over than I've ever seen before this year. And I had 2 close calls with a pickup truck and motor home parked in the middle of the road Friday and a truck/trailer rig on Saturday that I almost nailed in one corner since he was all in my lane. If a biker hadn't warned me at the last minute I would have been toast.

Seriously. I hope that corner isn't as blind as it appears...

N.RotaryTech 04-16-2008 06:56 AM

Damn foreigner, in the USA we drive on the right side of the road not the left. :)

lt1_fd3s 04-16-2008 07:14 AM

IMO...with the way all our cars are designed to handle, there is no need to ever cross the double yellow line on a road, unless someone just can't drive... if u want to always stay to the inside of a curve so you feel like ur crossing lanes, take it to a track

I probably dropped a wheel or two over the yellow line quite often. GTR = RHD = sucks

Once I came around a corner and the wheels of the bike were in the other lane but that was it, he was leaned over so far his head was a solid 2 feet into mine.. LUCKY for him, I was apexing and well inside the white line on my side, so there was a few feet between us.

I only saw like 5 pics of the GTR on the us129photos website

Here's some squids.

Phoenix7 04-16-2008 07:48 PM

I would be pissed if I totalled my car due to a skull/bike to the front. I would not feel at all taking one of them out. Darwinism at work.

darthrotary 04-16-2008 08:30 PM

I followed some people who went over the line once or twice. The way it looked, it set you up wrong for the next turn apex. Who ever made this road knew what they were doing, lol! You can actually drive faster when you stay inside the lines.

Just ask the guy (Tim i think) from Indy, what happens when bikes cross the line. And yes there were times where I thought I was going to take the heads off of some bikers who were riding the line.

All I can say is, if you cross the line and hit me, you better be close to death, if not you will be when I'm done!
