Buenos dias!

Hola!

Not new to the 7 world... just new to this forum. I've had enough with the other one, and someone talked me into migrating.

Anyway, I have an 88 Turbovert, and lots of experience (its my 4th). I look forward to throwing some useful comments the way of the forum, and learning even more!

Welcome to the GOOD Rotary site! The more people we can get over here to add positive experience and attitude the better! How about posting up some pictures of the show car?

damn, cant believe I haven't seen your engine bay before, its beautiful!! Bring it up to DGRR!!

ElTeeFauci 03-27-2013 09:22 PM

Thinkin' about it, but I'll be cutting it close to the date of my big move to CA :/

Man! You have a LOT of work into that car. Lookin' good, it seems the judges agree. Welcome to the looney bin, it's a fun site.

ElTeeFauci 03-27-2013 11:31 PM

I can already tell that I'll enjoy this site more than the other one.

The photos were at IASCA Spring Break Nationals about a month ago in Daytona... I ended up in a tie for 1st but took 2nd in the tiebreaker because I haven't finished the fab work in my trunk :(

I can't have all my fun at once... that's ok though. I'm moving out to California in May and will get to hit all of the good HIN shows!

RedR1 03-28-2013 09:49 AM

Nice to see another rotary owner here in Jax. Stinks you'll be moving to CA though while we are up in TN for DGRR. Are you in the Navy, being stationed over to CA? or just a move you've always wanted to do?

FILTHY looking FC. In a good way, not implying you need a car wash  If i ever owned an FC, the FC2000 kit was definitely going to be the only thing i'd ever put on it.

ElTeeFauci 03-28-2013 09:52 AM

Yep... Navy. I should have gone in the 6 years that I've been here, but hadn't even known about it in the first 3 years.

They're making go to Monterey to get a MS in Systems Engineering. Sounds miserable. BUT, the good part is the house I'm moving into has (2) 2 car garages! Thats like a beach resort to me!

ElTeeFauci 03-28-2013 09:54 AM

I love this body kit, but I've never actually put it on a trailer - which is something I'm about to do.

To prep for the move, I've installed coilovers... I'll raise them to the max, and hope for the best. The front bumper is giving me recurring nightmares. If I cant get it on the trailer, I'll have to take my sawz'all to it.

GySgtFrank 03-28-2013 10:11 AM

: DOH: ANOTHER sailor? This site is lousey with seamen. If you have to, you could use wheel dollies to get the front a little higher so you can get it on the trailer. The SawzAll comment makes me cringe.

Me too. I'll figure something out... that was a little over the top in the drama index.

Most rotary owners here are in the Navy, or just gluttons for punishment like me

Enjoy CA while you are there! I love vacationing there, but i could never live there. too many oppressive rules and regs on fun. None of my cars would ever pass smog, and none of my toys are legal there. though the scenery is AMAZING. Especially the sunsets into the ocean

is the front bumper molded to the fenders? If not, just unbolt the front end and leave it inside the car trailer :) that's what I do with my FD when i have to tow her anywhere.

Unfortuneately, yes. Hence the sawz'all comment. I'll do whatever I have to... if it means i'll have to build a platform to get it off of the trailer. Done.

I think I'll have a good time with it... though I'm sure it isn't California legal. Florida has no emissions testing... or even safety inspections, so putting the standalone in wasn't an issue at all. All emissions stuff (and I mean all) is gone. A/C, power steering, and even the heater are also gone. The car never sees rain, and the top rarely goes up :)

The thing I need to do some research on is the whole antique or classic registration in Texas, which is where I plan to have it registered when my FL registration expires.

GySgtFrank 03-28-2013 04:57 PM

The thing that got me was that DOD caved to California and required smog checking to get a base sticker, even if registered out of state. Ended up having to sell my truck back home, as it had a non-approved engine swap. I've heard they're going away from base stickers, so maybe this won't be an issue. Although I'm sure the Smog Nazis will be trying to come up with some other way to enforce their will on others.

ElTeeFauci 03-28-2013 08:33 PM

Lame... luckily this car gets driven about 1 or 2 days every couple weeks. I'm not worried about getting on the base as much as I am about just figuring out how to register it.

WankelsRevenge 03-28-2013 11:33 PM

I know in some states if a car is more then 20 years old it doesn't have to be smogged. Plus if you get re-stationed with the military cant you somehow keep you roroginal states registration?

Sephitrask 03-29-2013 03:31 PM

Man, we got this!! You have friends in Florida; have your cell phone bill address changed to one of our addresses, then just order your registration online. As long as you receive a bill in state you should be good

WankelsRevenge 03-29-2013 11:27 PM

Looks like Steve is trying to get him a nice turbo vert.

ElTeeFauci 03-30-2013 09:14 PM

A title company that I bugged on Thursday evening told me that I should just change my address at the registration place... then it would be a piece of cake to get them in CA. I'm gonna try that, and if it doesn't work, I'll let you know Steve. Thanks for the offer!
