Did you buy it from AutoEXE?
Or is the engine hiding a bunch of goodies inside?

MotoTek 01-16-2012 11:47 PM

Force13b, I noticed I didn't post pics of the car after I posted. Whoops. haha Here it is through some stages before the tear down & build started.

When I first got her.
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...l/IMG_1283.jpg

Installed FEED kit + new VR paint.
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...ewedl/LMK8.jpg

Here she is 2-3 months ago. Sitting comfortably in the garage.
I started to install the RE-Amemiya ADGT kit and re-paint the car black, but really didn't like the fact that the door jams and engine bay were a different color. So, that's when I tore her apart and began the never ending part collection process. haha

The plan now is to start fresh. Media blast the entire car. Quiet Coat the interior, and POR the underside.
I'm also no longer painting it black, but will leave the new color a secret until it's finished. :)

Ted, AutoEXE used to build new 3 rotors, but have since stopped. I purchased this from Japan2LA who was holding it for himself to build his own 3 rotor one day.

AutoEXE, did the following:
Built from ALL BRAND NEW PARTS
Brand New C and D code spec 4mm thicker dowel pin land side plates
Brand New OEM mazda E-shaft
Brand New LIM, UIM,TB, ELbow
Brand NEW Twins
Brand NEW FD3S Rotor housings (Built in Japan after 20B rotor housing NLA)
Brand New Staygears
Brand New rotors
Brand New oil pan and pick up tube
ETC... ETC.. ETC..
Plus all the Autoexe upgrades internally (porting)

speedjunkie 01-17-2012 01:31 PM

Did you hit the lottery or something? Holy shit lol. The new interior probably cost as much as the 20B lol.

MotoTek 01-18-2012 01:00 AM

No lottery, unfortunately. :( Just a passion for doing things right. My girlfriend would say it's an obsession though. Thankfully, she has her own "obsession" that I support her through. It equals out.

speedjunkie 01-18-2012 02:18 AM

I know all about obsession, I self-diagnosed that for myself already haha. Admitting you have a problem is the first step, blah blah blah LOL. Screw that, just hand me that wrench. lol

Wow, that is one helluva find.
Like speedjunkie already said...I'd be scared to look at the numbers on the receipts for these items!
Good luck with the build!

MotoTek 08-04-2012 04:42 PM

Eric & Ted, I justify it by telling myself "At least I'm not spending the money on liquor or drugs." haha Mostly though, the build has given me a lot of experience with cars that my future employers will look for. I plan on finding a job in the automotive industry when I graduate next June, so this will only help me. :)

Got some more stuff in from Japan & from the polishers!

I also purchased a full set of pillow-ball suspension bushings from Super*Now over in Japan, which will have to wait to be installed until I get my next purchase from Summit. After that all that will be needed is electronics, motor build, body work. =D

I got a few quotes for media blasting all the control arms, and having the bushings pressed in for me, but it makes a lot more sense to just do it myself, even though I probably won't use the shop equipment afterwards unless I build another car after this. hmmm. Maybe a MKIV Supra or NSX.

Wow, they did a GREAT job on those polished pieces.

[200[ 08-06-2012 07:58 PM

excellent choice with the transmission, rated at 700 ft / lb - very strong!

docmar 08-28-2012 05:51 AM

Very nice project.
So impressed....
Tell us....how much did you win on the lottery.???

MotoTek 08-29-2012 06:55 PM

Thank you, I appreciate it. If I won the lottery though, she'd have been done a long time ago.

docmar 08-31-2012 06:47 AM

Man the most impressive project i'v ever seen.
Joking about the lottery.
Please keep us informed about any progress.

Herblenny 08-31-2012 11:32 AM

Nice! Can't wait to see it!! You think you'll be ready for DGRR 2013??

MotoTek 09-01-2012 11:39 AM

docmar, if you think this is impressive. Go check out To_slow and Herblenny's build threads! You'll be even more impressed.

Phil, possibly. I graduate next May, so with that and trying to finish my senior project I might be way to busy. If there's even a chance I can come, I will be there.

MotoTek 10-19-2012 09:43 PM

Not sure if any of you cant check the other place, so here ya go. ;)

Argh.... damn you and that beautiful RED FEED cluster :) Let me know if you ever decide to part with it or feel a desire to trade me for my low kilometer Amemiya cluster plus some $$$ from me :)

I love pop-up lights 10-19-2012 11:12 PM

Holy list of baller parts Batman!

It's like a wet dream shopping list for a lot of FD owners

Nice choices, car is looking sexy already.

WankelsRevenge 10-20-2012 01:20 AM

Plan on going with a FMIC setup for that thing?

MotoTek 10-20-2012 03:47 PM

RCCAZ 1, it took me a couple years to get my hands on this one. Although, I'll let you know first if it ever does leave my possession. I'm debating on whether I should give it some 21st century upgrades with LED's , or not. The lights now don't put out a linear pattern and are very dim.

I love pop-up lights. Thank you sir. There's still a few more wet dream rare parts I need to finish it off. Phil, has some fender mirrors I really want, I think I just need to buy them new because he's for sure not letting them go. Haha can't wait for you guys to see the motor finished.

WankelsRevenge, yes sir. I'm having a custom one made to fill that giant gap. :)

WankelsRevenge 10-20-2012 10:02 PM

Nice, I swear basically all RE-A bodykits were made for front mount setups

MotoTek 10-22-2012 11:53 AM

Built the crate yesterday to send off to Chips Motorsports aka To_Slow. ;)

MazdaMike 10-23-2012 02:16 PM

Awesome build. Cant wait to see the finished product.

MotoTek 11-12-2012 07:38 PM

Engine: Tear down. The guy (Japan2LA/Brian Galloway) who sold me the motor said everything was brand new. As you can see, that's not the case. All new rotors and housing will need to be purchased and the irons will need re-nitrated due to all the step-wear. Unfortunately, for me I waited to long to have the engine built, but I will be still be perusing the matter for what it's worth.

Work is being done by Chips Motorports. :)

Unfortuneately that's something that I've heard alot of with Brian Galloway/Japan2LA

Awesome build otherwise though. Chip will take care of you, he is the man! Helped me out big time with my current engine

Red Baron 11-13-2012 12:41 PM

Can't wait to see the sum of the parts.

muibubbles 12-04-2012 03:28 AM

Oh, I found you on here too Model Mike =)

WE3RX7 12-04-2012 09:07 AM

Sorry to hear about that engine! Hope you get it squared away though. Looks like a great build...

sucks about the engine not being what you thought it was. however, you sound like you'll be alright. would like to hear when it fires.

Reaming of oil feed passages on the irons to the stationary gear bearings for increased oil flow; done by Chips Motorsports!
-8 with o-ring groove for a leak proof setup, not pipe threaded like other builders out there.

Because I'm also running a Mazdaspeed dry-sump system Chip will be doing some trick stuff that I'll post later, so stay tuned for some rotary related porn that you've never seen done to a rotary before!

Why didn't you just weld a -8 AN bung on? Could have done away with threaded fittings all together.

MotoTek 02-01-2013 07:21 PM

Welds are ugly. IMO, this looks much cleaner even over TIG. :)
