Nominate your favorite rotary at DGRR - People's Choice Award

Nominate your favorite vehicle from Deals Gap Rotary Rally! :auto:

This will also be the April car, bike, or truck of the month!

butterfly21kaye 05-04-2011 12:07 PM

I nominate the Defined Autoworks RX-7. And its 18-wheeler deserves an honorable mention for making it through the Dragon.

Buggy 05-04-2011 06:36 PM

There really should have been an award for the guy that drove that truck through the dragon. That truck was HUGE! He's my hero!

I nominate lwnslw's MB FD....

IMO lwnslw should have won something at that car show. His FD is so clean pictures cannot do it justice.

I nominate The Cafe Hercule bike brought by Rotary Recycle (Jess, Jeff, and Zach). Not only is it a beautiful bike but its something that many rotary enthusiasts didn't know existed till seeing one at Deals Gap. It seemed to be a crowd favorite so it seems fit to be nominated. Plus I know how much time and effort they put into it. I'll post pics here shortly when I find some good ones.

+1. It'd be good to see the bikes get some recognition. Last year when 1 of 33 Van Veen's ever produced, in immaculate condition, showed up I fully expected it to win the Old School Rotary class, however it was sadly overlooked for any award. As was Zach's RE-5 that had been meticulously refurbished. :(

As for this year, the Cafe Hercules was very well put together and, in my opinion, easily the most unique vehicle there. So it gets my nomination.

Hmmmmm this is tough. I'd like to nominate titaniumtt's car. There were many awesome cars out there and I usually prefer FDs over FCs but Bryan's car is as close to flawless as I can think of.

I came here to post this. The attention to detail is staggering. I love Brian's car.

+1, That was my favorite car too. A unique and classy work of art & engineering. If Mazda had produced an FD to compete directly with the high buck european GTs (think Aston, Maserati, etc.), that's probably what the end result would have looked like. Loved the intake manifold and exhaust headers.

Ditto!!!

Redshft 05-06-2011 06:29 PM

I'm really torn. To be honest, I came here to nominate TitaniumTTs car as well. The level of fabrication and attention to detail blows my mind. I spent more time looking at that car than any other.
But, Gordon's 3-rotor NA just captivates me. If it has to be a car, it's one of those two.

If it doesn't have to be a car, I'd vote for the Hercules Cafe Racer just on the basis of being so unique and so cool.

hades 05-07-2011 09:20 AM

TTT - he fabbed everything him self.

I heard he chisled the chassis out of a Sherman tank.

MaczPayne 05-09-2011 03:07 PM

I heard he built the car up using nothing but TIG beads.

Supernaut 05-09-2011 03:13 PM

He cures cancer with his tig welder.

djmtsu 05-09-2011 04:01 PM

He told me he was late getting to DGRR because he had to run to Canada and find some baby seals. He then clubbed them to death and rendered their fat for the grease.

The man is dedicated.

My5ABaby 05-09-2011 04:28 PM

I heard he was Patient Zero... :suspect:

everything but the exhaust sleeves :smilielol5:

at least this time he realized he was running 2000 F temps!

85turbo12a 05-09-2011 09:32 PM

i would have to vote for the hercules as well, its only the 4th one i have ever seen, and 3 of those were in germany....

but if it must be a car, i would also agree on the titanium FC, im not usually a fan of FCs but that thing is just well done from every angle, its clean and is easily one of the best "all round" performance cars at the event. IMHO.

Supernaut 05-09-2011 11:10 PM

Yea thats the thing. I'm definitely an FD guy but the quality of work and attention to detail on his FC is so freaking high it has to be recognized. Everything on the car seems like it was redone. I've yet to see a more worked street rx7. The dude even does his own paint. His paint on his bumper was so fresh that there were bugs that actually got embeded in the clear coat. It was pretty gross. Brian you disgust me.

mazpower 05-10-2011 02:47 PM

I also nominate Brian's FC but I'm a bit biased. :)

TitaniumTT 05-10-2011 08:21 PM

These are all true, except

that was zero patiens ;)

I heard, that under his beard, theres not a chin, but a 3rd rotor :suspect::rofl:

War Eagle 05-13-2011 01:51 PM

Second or third Gordon's car and David Garfinkles. Gordon's is one beautiful $100k plus 3 rotor vision and Garfinkles is the only car show car :)

rwatson5651 05-13-2011 09:21 PM

I vote for Gordons car.

This may sound silly, but I was captivated by his header. It is a unique '7!!!

Sephitrask 05-15-2011 11:19 PM

Some say that he prefers pre-mix instead of milk in his cereal, and that his right thumb is made of carbon fiber...

Sephitrask 05-15-2011 11:20 PM

oh, and my vote goes to titaniumTT as well.

ZGN 05-17-2011 08:09 AM

Too many variables to pick one. The true meaning of a rotary sports car would be goodfellas. Every modification done to the car has a purpose and is being used to its fullest potential. The car drives as well as it looks. For straight eye candy has to go to Mr. Garfinkle.
