so i have this turbocoupe...

its a decent daily, but its rather cumbersome for my taste. But the nice part is the 2.3 turbo, the T5 (its not WC but whatever) and the ford 8.8 with 3.55s (ill have to do something about that) and LSD. So what should i swap this driveline into? Im open to some ideas. Im kinda at a wall with things. I was thinking about an FB or perhaps an FC (especially a convertible) but any other ideas of a cool chassis for such a swap that would be suitable for daily use?

Ranger. That would surprise a few people.

djmtsu 04-01-2010 10:34 AM

I concur.

Or a B-series.

Whizbang 04-01-2010 03:02 PM

actually from what i can see the ranger is rather played out, but perhaps an older boxy style one could be intersting. Other ideas?

85 calica!

Whizbang 04-01-2010 05:06 PM

eh if i was going to do a volvo, would just swap the volvo turbo engine. Bottom end is almost the same just with a better head.

BUT i realized there is a narrowbody starion in my back yard my room mate owns...and he owes me!

Whizbang 04-05-2010 11:45 PM

sorry, its a conquest, same damn thing. Maroon with a red plush interior.

I still say geo metro

Whizbang 04-15-2010 08:18 AM

turn it into a nitro burning wheeeeeeel stander?

SouthSideSlider 04-15-2010 09:57 AM

i say pick up an extra FB or FC shell and a volvo 16V head and biuld a monster i know pwesonally i'm doing a T5-R motor in an FC. trying to find a nice vert.

currently i'm also working on a 16vT for my 740 already got a 16V head machined turbo pistons . i need solid lifters and 4.6 valve springs. trying tpo find some PZ cams and another HX35w.(just bought 1 with only 6000miles on it for $450. F_ING SCORE)

as for other cars.old celica supra maybe?
fox body mustang would be easy.
ohohohoh

MIATA!!!!!!!

Whizbang 04-15-2010 05:24 PM

i think that 2.3 turbo is rather heavy for a miata. id love to swap the 2.3 into an rx7 chassis. but this starion is hella clean

SouthSideSlider 04-16-2010 12:02 PM

that would be intressting to. but definatly folvo it. the 16V porsche designed volvo head is awsome. run ford 4.6L SOHC non-beehive valve springs to get ridof most valve float issuses.

jerd_hambone 04-16-2010 08:11 PM

Conquests are getting rare. But, if it's got a motor in it, the 2.6 is a beast when built right.

Whizbang 04-17-2010 02:14 AM

it has a bad g45b that is missing some stuff

jerd_hambone 04-17-2010 12:07 PM

Hm. Well with a 2.3 in it, it'd definitely be unique. But I don't know how well it'd pull it.

I'd say go for it.

SouthSideSlider 04-17-2010 01:28 PM

oh those old 2.3L are torquy f**kers.

Whizbang 04-17-2010 07:55 PM

the 3800 lb turboboat scoots fairly well stock with 3.55 final drive, i think the conquest should move.

jerd_hambone 04-17-2010 09:00 PM

I wasn't dissing the 2.3, just never been a ford fan. I have a Chevy 305 and trans for sale, put that in the Conquest!

Whizbang 04-20-2010 06:45 PM

i wont lie, i thought of using my silver 82 as the chassis to recieve the 2.3 engine has crossed my mind numerous times....
