Is that dyno day going to be "the" dyno day?

 I read that after I typed it and thought....... should I change it???? NAHHHH!!!!!!!!!! Sorry guys, had to ;) She's all better now though. 4 new coils, (actual real Denso ones in the leadings, Napa couldn't give me four of the same) and about 20 minutes of idle time tonight. I know one of the coils was FUBAR, the plugs were FUBAR too though, they were so wet from assembly goo and extra fuel that they fouled out. No spark means no current through the wire which means the timing light wasn't firing either. So I still need to figure out how to test LS1 coils without the OBDII cripe to see which ones are still good. I know one is bad and seeing as how they were all subjected to the same torture, it's a good idea to replace all four. But I'm a little pissed at myself for not checking for wet plugs earlier in the game, oh well, live and learn I guess.

Tomorrow the temp steelie hood and bumper go on and then a weeks worth of breakin - woot!

Negatory - Monday will be baseline 7000 RPM and wastegate for sure, we MAY play around with the sequentials a little bit but it won't be the 8000 rpm 15-18+lbs day. On Monday I am going to let Dave know about my intentions to be back on 8/27 (Thursday) for that dyno and a corner balance in prep for the CART Pocono Track day the day after. So if you're game for two days of testosterone, that might be the ticket. I'll be spending Thursday night at some local hotel.

WE3RX7 08-03-2009 12:42 AM

I may make the Dyno on 8/27 but the friday after is a tough one, lol... We shall see. I def want to be there for the 15+ day...

Roen 08-03-2009 04:44 PM

Ill let you know what happens next week and if the 8/27 is a go or not. Pocono should be fun. I need to get my ass in gear and get that trailer done though otherwise I'll be driving out and back with the truck withe the 7 in tow........ which is something I'd like to avoid.

Could I at least request a Tesla instead when that day comes?

TitaniumTT 08-09-2009 08:45 PM

Negatory.

So I've been slammed with work lately and the little project that I had for the FC turned into a MAJOR one, I think the end results will be well worth it though. Regardless, I have yet to drive the car, sad I know, but I have the next few days off and I am hopeful (actually I HAVE to start driving her by Tuesday) to be on the dyno 8/18, then again on the 27th, that day will not change. Time is slipping away from me and I sense a 44.5hr strait no sleep work day in my near future.......... I love cars. I think my next hobby is going to be collecting stamps.

I did however get the dual EGT's in, the Pre-intercooler air temps, and a few other little odds and ends sorted out so that kinda makes me happy. Better yet would've been keeping on schedule but can't have everything I guess.

MaczPayne 08-10-2009 10:49 AM

Funny you mention stamps, my friends and I always joke around, "We should just sell all our cars and Jeeps and get into something like low-rider bikes, or stamps"

TitaniumTT 08-10-2009 11:34 AM

Yup, that's pretty much the running joke that we have, "why couldn't we collect stamps instead."

The answers range from, "boost gets you laid," to "stamps don't arouse me," "you can't take a woman for a ride on a stamp," etc etc etc. I like my boats too. The over powered surfboard type scream across in the water 1/2 the time @ 60+mph..... it's a shame that everything fun is so damn expensive. Oh well, what can ya do? Back to work on the hood.

So I finally bought a new camera.... I should actually have some pics up later tonight. Joe can have a look and mock my blocking abilities

Needs alot more work, but I wanted to play with the cheapo $129 Nikon..... not bad. I'ma have to play around with some video in the near future. For now though, the pics will have to suffice ;)

Hells yeah, always been my favorite. And if I'm gonna build one, as opposed to waiting around for Ken..... sorry but I don't have the patience..... it's gonna be for my car, ducted directly to the intercooler etc etc etc.

I'm actually thinking about taking it to a local fiberglass shop owned by a member of the evil forum who has been trying to get his acquaintances atihun hood for quite some time and for a fee + a clip of the profits, letting him pull a mold from mine. We'll see though

My reply was simple, "ABSOLUTELY NOT! I've had an amazing time and by next year I should hopefully have all these little issues sorted out and actually be able to enjoy the car as opposed to working on her." All the time and effort was worth it to get down there to enjoy the cars, the event and the company....... and Tray grabbing my ass to wake me up in the morning.... that was probably the highlight. I will definately be back next year and actually have some plans for the car over the winter. Nothing drastic, but a few things. A new 6-spd tranny is one thing for the winter.

Epic story, is it wierd that I actually liked troubleshooting your car lol?

Yeah, I'm an old bastard. I was actually getting alot of shit about it over the walkies. There was one instance where we were getting off the highway, I was running 3'rd behind the FD who was behind the honduh, the honda made some smart ass comment about being old and slow so I dropped a gear or two, went roaring around the FD on the exit ramp, lite them up through the left hander onto the intersection to get around the honda and into the gas station first..... AJ (Duffman) in his FB bringing up the rear made some comment like, "what a jackass. Look at the old bastard in his midlife crisis mobile." I lol'ed, can't win for losing.

Getcha a pair of those mazda pillows, lol. Mine came from Ebay.:icon_tup:

I'm too old to stay in anything but Marriots, Hiltons etc. so that was ~$400 each way right there less I wanted to hook up with some BAW'lers along the way... which I wouldn't mind at all..... hrm... so with some proper planning driving may actually be cheaper. Shipping was ~$800 each way, gas would be ~$550, plus food, stops, hotels, etc, days off from work have a cost... blah blah blah....

:fawk: Well of the two that I've built that have blown one was in the hands of a "technician" when that fat bastard popped it, and the second was on the dyno with a clogged fuel filter soooooooooooo :banghead: can't really blame me. We'll see how #4 goes. I got 150 miles on her so far and she stopped being all pissed off after about 20 miles and a few tweaks in the MAP that really helped out. Thanks. I figured it would be easier to start with a factory hood and form it the way I wanted to. Bad thing is I cut out most of the supports and it kept warping slightly from the welding heat so it was a constant battle to keep the fucker strait and lining up with everything. I love the look of it. A few sins to hide than it's time to put the plastic up for the big spray... hopefully nothing horrible will happen becuase I just don't have the time to be doing this a few times..... cars, why can't stamps arouse me?

batmanfc 08-12-2009 10:31 PM

Where did you get the projector's from?

TitaniumTT 08-14-2009 12:50 AM

Well, I spoke with Dave today and it turns out his dyno is down so we had to bump my appt. Bad news for Pocono as now I can't attend but good news for Bill, maybe...... new date for the first run in 8/29, a Saturday. Don't know when the 8k high boost 400RWHP try is going to be as most of my days off in Sept are already spoken for but we'll see. So what say you about that day Bill?

Come to think of it, after looking at the "completed" hood, the bonnet is very Border-esque, minus the fact the Border hood has a riser and then the vent.
