That looks tight... a little too tight for me.... and I would try to find a replacement FC tanks before committing to that... Would hate to see the SA stall out because you stole from Peter to pay Paul and Peter ended up being Peter Peter cock eater....

I'm all for saving cash..... but I would still look for an FC tank just to make sure... and no, I don't have any... all mine were trash and ended up at the recycling center...

I did give that some consideration. I came to the conclusion that I would rather add a little extra weight to the back of the car than have to stop for gas every 100 miles because of the dinky 7 gallon tank. It will be about 10 gallons more fuel, so about 60 lbs with a full tank?


It is tight, but there is nowhere else to put it. These cars are tiny, light, but tiny. To give you an idea of just how tiny here's a picture of a Midget parked next to regular vehicles.

The tank I have is in good shape. It was fine for several years in the SA and had premix in it since I got it. A new tank is expensive as shit, but at least they're still available if I have any problems. The SA is going to need a bigger pump anyway and I would rather spend the money for a fuel cell on it as it is more likely to actually need it.

I had to weld a few different angles together to make a pass through in my fuel tank enclosure for the stock fuel filler. The vent pass through only required a straight piece, so that one was easy. The fuel filler involved a bunch of different angles, so it was a bit more of a pain to do. I'll get paint on the enclosure (some of it will be impossible to get paint on once it is in) and get it welded in position, pictures of that will be forthcoming.

The muffler enclosure, which fits behind this piece, will have to be done in the car. The entire tank and muffler piece will not fit in the trunk opening so it needs to be done in two pieces.

You might want to use a beefier lift next time...:willy_nilly: looks good!

It works well for holding parts up for painting too. Nice to have adjustable height while spraying large pieces. :cheers2:

Actually so would I, but the little green monster had other ideas. I'm planning to go turbo with the SA so most of these parts need a new home anyway. That is going to require a re-think on some of the stuff on the SA, so probably just as well.

I want to go RE or REW, based upon the way MC and Brian built his engine. The power levels and torque would be perfect for what I was looking for. It could be a long project though, as just getting all the parts together to do it will be expensive.

Or you could try to find a big enough tire iron to take the keys from MC. :boxing_smiley:
