I've called and left a message with nantahala.. We'll see if they call back and then if they will accept my new plan.. If not, we'll see.. But Fontana have again, disappointed me and wasted more time!! Fuckers! I don't even know why they even attempt to contact me.. They think they are such a BIG shots... Anyhow, i wouldn't get into details.. But I'm very disappointed.

HDP 10-30-2008 08:20 PM

What about the resort near Pigeon Forge that David suggested?

Yeah, I might have to get David to be involved... I'm just getting burned out:)

I'll PM or call David this weekend..

David Jerome, if you see this let me know and give me a shout!

blwnrtr93 10-31-2008 04:27 AM

Why not have a gathering at say.... Cheaha in AL? (Plug for the local twisties)

Pourman 10-31-2008 11:14 AM

DAMN :( ... hopefully Nantahala will comply ... BEST Car gathering I've ever been to ;)

classicauto 10-31-2008 03:45 PM

Screw it we'll just sleep in our cars!! Hardcore :)

Herblenny 10-31-2008 03:55 PM

Just got off the phone with Nantahala...

There is a new group sales guy.. He seems to be reasonable and he said he will get me an answer by end of tuesday... When that falls thru, I'll ask someone to check Pigean Forge (sp?).

VR8 10-31-2008 04:02 PM

The BOTD committee had a pretty good relation with Nantahala after our recent meet...hope it holds true for DGRR as well.

Herblenny 10-31-2008 04:08 PM

Well, I thought I had good relations until the owners went back out our verbal agreement.. We shall see.... I'm either way on this at this point.

Whitey 11-05-2008 12:44 PM

As VR8 was saying.....we had a good thing going with Nantahala after we sat down in person.....but ofcourse on the phone is the exact same nightmare that you're going through now. I was able to meet the new "Group" coordinator in September and he seems like he's much more organized and on top of things.... hell he even sent me a "Thank You / Come Back Again" card in the mail! Hopefully he'll respond better than the last 2 or 3 Group Coordinators did. Anyway as of right now we plan on using them again for BOTD 09. :icon_tup:

PortedRotorTuner 11-05-2008 11:00 PM

Still no word yet? You would think these people would welcome a big group :willy_nilly:

Pourman 11-05-2008 11:26 PM

^^ Especially in April ;)

Herblenny 11-06-2008 11:20 PM

I left a message yesterday and no call back..

I will try again tomorrow but we shall see.

good news is that I have a good support from one of my sponsors and I am working on trying to bring Dr. Francesco Iannetti. I met him at 7stock and he was interested in coming.. We shall see if DGRR is a go and also if he's schedule will work with the event.

Terrh 11-06-2008 11:32 PM

so what's the holdup? Why no date set yet?

I need a date so I can start counting down the days.

I'll try and show up in a rotary next year, I promise...

try doing a little reading.

Pourman 11-07-2008 11:58 AM

So if the Lodges there don't accommodate us as a group , can't we all still meet up for a certain weekend , and just get our own rooms wherever ?? ... I understand about the meals , and the seminars , awards and all , but I'd hate to miss this event because the Lodges aren't cooperating :( ... it's worth it to me to come up and run the Dragon with everyone , the Comraderie was one of the best parts of that weekend ;)

classicauto 11-07-2008 05:39 PM

Shit-chyeah man!

A few of us canucks are planning to head down there whether its on or not. Crusie the dragon, chill, talk about how sweet our rotaries are :)

So I'll be there either way. Shit - I'll sleep in my car if I have to!!

PortedRotorTuner 11-07-2008 10:52 PM

find a campground near by. Get the sleeping bags and tents out. Looks
like were cooking smores this year :patriot:

N.RotaryTech 11-08-2008 07:20 AM

Yeah we can work something out.

^ Sounds like a plan! ^ Well call it DragonStock

orion84gsl 11-10-2008 08:20 AM

Smores? Thats all you had to say. I'm so in for that.

Herblenny 11-10-2008 10:11 AM

I got a message from Nanatahala and things are looking better... They were much better this time about getting back to me and keeping me informed... Which was all I needed. As of now, they are willing to give 20% off the entree and it will be reservation based.

This might work out better for all of you and easier for me as they were pain in the butt to deal with and also give those who wants to save money by bringing or cooking for yourselves.

I'm now waiting for one more thing to be ironed out and it will be official. I will keep you guys all updated.. but as of now, looks like Nantahala Village again:)

mmmm smores, I haven't had smores for years. :drool5:

We can do this regardless. :willy_nilly:

PortedRotorTuner 11-11-2008 10:44 AM

Phil, thank you for not giving up! Your the best man :cheers2:

Herblenny 11-11-2008 10:52 AM

I've called Nantahala yesterday but no answer.. left them a message again..

I think its their off season and due to slow down, I think they might of cut staff or shorten hours. I'll give them a call today.

orion84gsl 11-12-2008 12:49 AM

Awesome, Nantahala was fantastic. Tell them if they don't cooperate fully they will have the tire smoke from 200 angry rotorheads filling their resort for the next decade. :D I'll bring spare tires. Was the date already set or has it changed? I need to notify work ASAP so no one takes the time I need. First come first serve can be a pain.

Herblenny 11-12-2008 08:01 AM

Date is set... Not matter what it will be April 17-19 and 18th being the main day (saturday). This year however, we'll meet up at the dam for a group shot on the 17th.

I still haven't got a call from them.. I'll call them this afternoon.

Pourman 11-12-2008 12:22 PM

Great :) ... looking forward to this event since DGRR '08 ... we gonna have a PARTY this time too ;)

Herblenny 11-12-2008 12:51 PM

Update!

Finally got in touch with Nantahala Village...

Guess what I found out... The new guy I talked to 3-4 weeks ago is NO LONGER WORKING there... GEEZ!!!

Anyhow, I had to explain it the the new lady and she's suppose to send me new info..

I'll keep you updated..... So far things are looking better.

Herblenny 11-13-2008 07:54 AM

UPDATE!!

I received an email from the new manager..

As of now, its 99.9%!!!

I'm waiting for a confirmation for our final deal and I will open up the registration.

I will start a new thread about the registration and quick outline of the schedule.

J2R 11-13-2008 08:19 AM

I love this! I can't wait to get the ok to sign up and get the cabin set up. haha As soon as I see the leaves change around here I know DGRR is right around the corner. :)

Pourman 11-13-2008 02:22 PM

YESCA :) ... can't wait !!

PortedRotorTuner 11-13-2008 04:23 PM

:bowdown::willy_nilly:

2gslse 11-13-2008 04:40 PM

OK!! finally some good news we all want to hear. I know it has been a lot of work on your part but it is appreciated by all of us.

Herblenny 11-13-2008 04:55 PM

Thanks... This time around was bit more frustrating because I was let down by both places... and wasted quite a bit of time. I've also realized how un organized they were and I'm sure you guys think that about me...

Anyhow, I now can say we are 99.99%.

I recieved an email and everything looks good except couple of minor details.. But as of now I say its 99.99%... Until I make it official.

I need to write out the registration details and what will be different from last event..

Please spread the word to others...

If you haven't been following whats going on in the rotary world, I and several rotary enthusiasts have been banned because rx7club thinks I'm a spammer for spreading the word and providing FREE Rotary Enthusiasts magazine, RCC-Digizine.

For that reason, i can not reach certain population of the group. So, please spread the word...

I think i've mentioned this earlier but we are also trying to bring Dr. Iannetti to the event and maybe some rotary guys from Japan. i've spoken with guys from RX-7 Magazine Japan and they were VERY interested in covering DGRR 09.

Like last year, we will also try to provide informative seminars. We offered tuning seminar for those wanting to know more about how ECU's work and we might offer slight more advance class next year.

We are also thinking about providing engine building seminar and maybe turbo seminars.

I will let you know of price and such to attend these potential seminars later on.. They will be given by leading rotary vendors and experts.

PHIL

PortedRotorTuner 11-13-2008 07:28 PM

Thanks for your hard work and putting up with the nonsense

I'll register as soon as you open it.

And like always. If you need anything, feel free to ask.

2gslse 11-13-2008 07:57 PM

I've also realized how un organized they were and I'm sure you guys think that about me...

NO we won't think you are the one unorganized I went this year for the first time and I thought everything went very smoothly and I am planning on coming to dgrr '09

PHIL

Funny coincidence, I actually ask Dr. Iannetti if he was going to DGRR09 last week.
