I need some help from my peeps. Im looking for an exhaust manifold flange but all the ones that i can find are cheaply made. FD of course

TitaniumTT 01-22-2016 09:05 AM

It's always possible to make your own but that can be time consuming.
Elliott from turblown has some nice ones out of 5/8" steel, but good luck. It took him like three months to get one to me when he, "had them in stock." the whole time :icon_no2"
I've thought about, for a while now, having a friend draw one up in CAD and then going to a waterjetter to get them cut out. I can think of 5 I'll need in the future, I'm sure I can scrounge up one or two more. If we can get to a dozen I'll make some phone calls.

TitaniumTT 01-22-2016 09:05 AM

BTW, still a badass project. Seriously hoping to see it @ DGRR this year

Is there a difference between RE and REW? Mazdatrix has a stainless flange for $57

http://mazdatrix.com/getprice.asp?partnum=16187

TitaniumTT 01-22-2016 10:06 AM

Zach, that's the RB flange that I thought I mentioned but got squirreled while typing. Elliot didn't get me my flange until I after I had built my mani. I ended up with that same SS RB flange. It's kind of not really suited for turbo apps.

almoststockfc 01-22-2016 10:25 AM

Brian i couldn't find any info on the turbosource page about just the flange. I will have to call Elliot or Shawn. What grade of ss are they making them out of??

TitaniumTT 01-22-2016 10:36 AM

It's not on their site. They get them cut for their own manifolds so it's not something that they usually sell outright. I bought a turbo from them, and the shop did a few of their kits so I had some pull, and it still took months of begging
You're welcome to try though, I would be curious to see what happens. I'm guessing they'll be stepping up their customer service after the a recent string of debacles we're made public.
I wanted to get a bunch cut and have them on hand so I wouldn't have to go through that crap again.

djmtsu 01-22-2016 02:35 PM

If you get a CAD for waterjetting some parts, I have a hook up.......in your area Brian.

almoststockfc 01-22-2016 03:06 PM

I can make a CAD but would need a good example to get measurements of off first.

I can bring my turbo manifold in and put it on the really expensive glass copier and fax you a life sized copy

almoststockfc 01-22-2016 05:45 PM

Lol yeah just make sure you draw it out in crayon as well for a backup

One of my wife's uncles basically developed the software that all water jet machines use.........

almoststockfc 01-25-2016 12:45 PM

Soooo why dont you have one in your garage then??

djmtsu 01-25-2016 01:02 PM

Because I am willing to bet that even with some kind of 'discount' it would still cost more than the house.

FC Zach 01-25-2016 10:25 PM

Yeah, true story.

TitaniumTT 05-18-2016 08:51 AM

Very impressed. Can't wait to see this beast

almoststockfc 05-18-2016 09:00 AM

There needs to be a bracket made for the accelerator because its sooo tight in the compartment that it has to be put on the other side of the column. Then stitch the rest of the welds, then she is ready to come home.

almoststockfc 05-18-2016 09:32 AM

Stock rolling frame weight

http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/...psnwc8jxxz.jpg

New rolling frame weight. Lost quite a bit considering the heavier rear end and heavier wheels and tires. I wanted more, but its a start.

So far thats the number. Between the few odds and ends that i have is about another 25.

I think that the goal that i had in mind was a stretch now that i can actually put the numbers to it but it will still be quite a bit lighter than stock.

almoststockfc 10-10-2016 07:05 AM

Probably the 15th time putting this motor in, hopefully this will be the last for a while.
