Wait, they used the gasket sealer instead of an exhaust gasket, or in addition to?

I fixed my inlet pipe nipple several years ago with JB Weld but mine held haha, never had any problems with it. It was the same nipple on the same pipe too haha.

There seems to be an exhaust gasket in there but also a butt load of gasket sealer oozing out of it. I'm planning on pulling it tonight i'll take lots of pics.

I cleaned the pipe off and did the "Is that JB weld *poke*" and the nipple fell off. I found another 1 for 20$

Why would anyone even use gasket sealant on the exhaust anyway? LOL I mean, I guess if it's leaking...but then that would be time for a new gasket I believe? I'm just spitballing here haha.

Actually now that I think about it, we used a brass nipple and threaded it down into the plastic and then JB Welded to make sure it sealed, so I can't give JB all the credit haha.

And I think the technical term for that "poke" is "poke of disbelief" LOL.

I have no idea. When his car gets up to temp it smells like burnt popcorn coming out of the tail pipe.

That's a bit different but a good idea, would have been cheaper then 20$ for a new pipe.

Yeah it was nice not having to buy and wait for one to ship too.

More funny shit from my friends Jason's car so this lug nut was holding the DP to the cat  yes lug nut

Gasket maker on the DP to cat

I was hopping to find were the "burnt popcorn" smell was coming from but couldn't really find anything definitive
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...n/IMG_0072.jpg

We pulled his stereo since we are installing a Defi Din gauges
http://www.defi-shop.com/product/din...name_black.jpg

Anyways look what we found, you know he wondered why his antenna didn't work rofl
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...n/IMG_0076.jpg
Yes that's a standard wood screw, screwed into the antenna port. This is the wire that should be for the antenna
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...n/IMG_0078.jpg

Now see the screw and the black wire behind that you see a metal taping screw, yeah it grounds out right there

And another rats nest of wires http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__..._emote_gif.gif

speedjunkie 05-01-2011 01:56 AM

Wow...I don't even know what to say man. He should shoot whoever he bought the car from. Just wow.

Force13b 05-02-2011 12:14 PM

I was thinking this would be a short project but bit by bit it's getting longer and longer. We'll see what we find around the next corner.

I never knew what that was for though, no shit huh lol. I don't feel in such a hurry to fix it now haha.

lol yep. I didn't find out about it tell 2yrs ago when i was searching for how to replace my door handle and randomly stumbled across it. It's a cool novelty that's about it. I had the door apart so might as well fix it.

jerd_hambone 05-06-2011 07:25 PM

I saw a car identical to yours on a trip to Florida in Feb. Thought it may have been you haha

Guess who has two thumbs, a 26 year old car, and a keyhole light that has worked for all 26 years?
