Can I personally or can it be done in general? Generally speaking you can weld different types of steels together, like stainless can be welded to chromoly and different aluminum allows can be welded together, 6061 to 6062 or 5052 and such but you can't weld AL to steel. And yes I can weld all of those, TIG is a wonderful thing.

I love the way the knightsports look but if I remember right they require the headlight lid retainer (clips) to be cut off and use doublesided tape or something to hold it down. They are plastic and have a bad enough time staying on as it is without cutting mounts off.
there was a group buy for some bi-xenon projectors (from sakebomb garage) in the popups for good lighting without the bad looks of the sleek lights.

Thanks for the tip. I'll take a look and talk to Tray about his Knightsports. If it's just a clip I'll prob end up modding it as I always do. I'll look at the SakeBombs as well, he's a vendor here now isn't he?

You can't, your wallet might :smilielol5: We'll figure something out for sure. The shop is going through, Alex and I see each other just about everyday and we keep talking and planning so we won't be turning down any project that we can do.

I can't, I just don't have the shop room right now. I've got a 20' boat that I need to make gone and gotta start on the FC soon. Right now both are snowed into their little winter hibernation spot with a Mazda 323 blocking the way which needs to be sold or wholesaled or donated by years end. Not to mention the race trailer that needs to be built before the season starts as well.... ugh... I need to get my ass in gear. When the FC is back together, the FD will be raped on as well as Alex's FC.

Is Alex attending DGRR this time as well?

If it was a GTX it wouldn't be sold at all.... it's a 132k mile, beater, no PS, PDL,PW or even a passenger sideview mirror. It does still run and start and really only needs an exhaust leak fixed and a new battery. $500 takes it home. Interior's a little rough, perfect beater car.

We're hoping he does but time will tell, he's got some shit going on right now

I'd be able to do them in the next week or so, maybe after the new year? PM me with what works good for you and we'll go from there.

Sorry, not to add to a internal debate, but pop-up headlights went out with headbands and big hair. They absolutly destroy the looks of the car when popped up. Aerodynamic by day, and friggin brick by night. Just my opinion. I am not a corvette fan but the best thing they ever did for it was mount some molded lights.

And excuse the jacking but 2gslse: Do you have a core support laying around you don't need? I am in need of one. Does it include the main support bar(crash bar) Mine was damaged by a Mitsu galant:(

helghast7 12-22-2009 07:21 AM

i love the FD with pop ups, there not square on them like the FC and FB. they just look right on the car IMO, and it brings more of an exotic vibe towards the car when you roll into a crowded place when its going dark and you open them, ive had lots of people stare

True, but when I see an FD with some sort of sleek light kit, it just doesn't look right in my eyes. With them closed, it looks just awesome. With them open, I'm not seeing the car so I don't care :D Sleek lights may look better than the pop-ups up, but do you think they look better with than with the pop-ups closed? Cuz that's pretty much the only time I'll be seeing the car and in my opionion, no lights at all looks the best, so I'll be keeping the pop-ups, just improving the visibility of them....... Not to mention the classic rock station that I listen too is playing music that I grew up with in HS. Since when did Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains become classic? :banghead:

Damn Galant owners. Ask him if he wants a new set of rims :smilielol5:

The lights themselves are still square and can use some improving upon, hence the KS kit I plan to use. Knowing me I'll probably toss in some Hella 90mm modules just becuase those lights are fricken awesome. Same ones I have on the FC and I love them.

BigIslandSevens 12-22-2009 10:06 AM

I hear your points. And for me, yeah I like the sleek better. But that's why I like cars. many different styles to choose from for individual tastes.

I was watching some Nascar themed show once and Mark Martins kid reffered to ac/dc as oldies, and 2pac as classic rap..... I wanted to slap the TV. Guess that means we are getting old.

If TitainiumTT doesn't need it then I have the main structure from the top of the windshield forward from a car I got my wiring out of I just couldn't see throwing it away when I was done. I am pretty sure I have a bumper support in the attic also.

in comparison to the FC there quite rouned and to further give the FD a more flowing look when there up mazda gave the lights a more round cover around them and ditched the very square 2 piece unit. are they still square? well yea, but if you put a FC housing next to an FD housing they look very different

but im bias as a mofo, i love me some pop ups :001_005:

I don't need it, I'm good, it's a few little pieces that were cut out, it would be easier to repair it that to cut a million spot welds and weld in the new pieces... all your's man.

We're going to use her as a rolling advertisement for what we can do. And as a template for a bunch of custom parts that we will offer, Tray and Phil will be the Test Mules. The parts will be "Dragon Approved" :smilielol5:

Can't wait to see some custome parts

Sakebombs kit is really well done, i would have been in on the group buy had i not just purchased a fuel kit and meth kit. I have sakebombs brake lines let’s just say all of their stuff is top notch.
