I understand Phil... I will be there no matter what. I just cant wait. Right now just trying to get ready for B3R and then get the interior done in the black 7 and my paint job on the red 7 so they will be perfect for DGRR

Pourman 09-22-2008 03:33 PM

I have only been to the DGRR once and that was this past year 2008 ... I thought it was GREAT , and I hope it stays the same (3 days) ... Phil if I can help out to make it any easier for you , LMK :)

Herblenny 09-22-2008 03:42 PM

Well, I think next year will be bit different.. I already got an OK on the discount. I'm working on the meals but I think its getting too complicated and expensive. I might just NOT do lunch... I'll get this all worked out by middle of OCT.. We still got time and very few people sign up early anyhow:)

Also, not many sponsors have responded to me about supporting DGRR.. so, we'll see.. Its a tough time for everyone it seems..

dregg100 10-02-2008 07:42 PM

any idea on a date?

Herblenny 10-02-2008 09:32 PM

I have to check with couple of people about something... Then i'll let you guys know.. But tentatively, it will be on April 17-19th, 2008... and 18th being the main date:)

I'll find out for sure within next month.

CAN'T WAIT!

Ian 10-03-2008 07:10 AM

Yup. Can't wait. Just hope that race school is not during that weekend or rather that two weeks.

Not to far off again. Time flies!!

HDP 10-03-2008 03:06 PM

I just read this entire thread hoping to make plans to attend next year and now I'm a bit confused as certain posts stood out from all the rest ... first Nantahala resort was the lodge of choice for most and Fontana was to avoided at all cost, talk of a new venue near Pigeon Forge which didn't seem to pan out, and then talk of excluding family and kids this being an all rotary enthusiast event... now it seems the coins have flipped and Nantahala has given us the d*ck and we are looking to Fontana to save the day. I'm glad that bridge wasn't burned completely but with all the negativity said about their pricing/accommodations, my comfort level with them would be a little low. I just hope no one's hung out to dry because of all the uncertainty with accommodations. I have first hand experience of being hundreds of miles from home and having to make last-minute arrangements because of a mix-up. It was not a pleasant trip and having family/kids with you would probably be a nightmare. Now what gets me about this whole excluding family thing is the organizer, Phil, instructed me, being a new father, to bring my new baby on this trip as this could be a family vacation. So I don't see how anyone else can even make the suggestion of exclusion and expect to be taken serious. :icon_tdown:
I really feel there should be a committee to research and negotiate to take the burden off just one person. As Phil said, it takes up too much of his time and what is a fun event if it's all work? It might be too late to restructure DGRR09 but I suggest a new plan for DGRR10 and beyond. Maybe pass out ballots at DGRR09 to elect a committee to balance out the workload. Just my $0.02

Pourman 10-04-2008 11:49 AM

Awaiting the updates :) ... I'm going again regardless of where we stay , I really liked Nantahala , so we may stay there again anyway ... I know it's farther from the Dragon , but the backroad along the lake was a pleasant drive to Deals Gap ;) ... can't wait :)

88turboii 10-06-2008 08:48 PM

Im ok with either place, but fontana would be better due to gas costs. with the amount of gas we will be consuming, maybe we cna get a group buy going on a tanker truck with 93 octane?? lol

FC Zach 10-06-2008 09:03 PM

That would be hilarious to see

With 93 and a small tank of race fuel?

Pourman 10-14-2008 08:46 PM

Any word ??

JStrib 10-16-2008 11:11 PM

Well whenever/wherever this is going to be this year, count me in for once! I've missed the last few due to sheer lack of time. But damnit, I'm making time this year! :D

WE3RX7 10-17-2008 03:45 PM

I plan to come down again for '09. WITH working sway bars :)

Herblenny 10-17-2008 04:09 PM

Give me until end of this month and i'll have an announcement and plan... I think most of you will like it better.... I think??

PortedRotorTuner 10-18-2008 10:34 AM

Luke

Pourman 10-18-2008 01:51 PM

My car will be MUCH different at DGRR 2009

Herblenny 10-20-2008 02:38 PM

I'm finalizing the plan.... I'll have the answer by this weekend.. Hopefully.

Pending the answer I receive, it will be VERY different and more affordable for everyone...

My main goal is to help out with everyone regarding the current economical situation and have maximum number of attendees...

So for that reason, I'm going to make it $25 registration FEE which will include a Tshirt, discount at Fontana village, Discounted meals at Fontana, entry to door prizes, Car show plaques, etc..

I think $25 is well priced and small amount we make will be used to fund our expanses to possibly bring special guests from other parts of the country or possibly other side of the world:)

I need to make sure few things before I could open the registration.. I will let you know... as soon as I get a more final words... Should be this friday....

PHIL

Tell the midget hooker to stop rubbing then. :001_005:

PortedRotorTuner 10-20-2008 05:53 PM

Sounds good Phil. That is for sure cheap. But that might help those
that are in some bad times to possibly still come.

Can't wait to see you again man. Hit me up if your anywhere near
Columbus. Some of us can hang out :)

Not sure when i'll have time to head up to Columbus... Last time I was there, i had a great time with Vila and his friends.. I'll try to come up:)

Yeah, That was one of the reasons for lowering the registration fee and making it more flexible. I'm still waiting on few things and soon as I hear about it, I'll let you guys know.. But at this point it will stay as it is.. Hope you guys will register early so I could start preparing how many shirts to print and such. Also, I'm going to do a BIG spread of DGRR on RCC Digizine:) including videos and tons of pics!

PHIL

PortedRotorTuner 10-21-2008 08:59 AM

Sweet, sounds good. I'll be registering early. I believe I will be bringing some
newbie’s with me to. I will have to work on them to make sure they come.

darthrotary 10-23-2008 07:32 AM

Either way, This IS my favorite event of the year. Just as long as it happens, and as always Phil, if you need help backing, planning or what ever feel free to ask. I'm sure I speak for alot of people on here sayin, WE GOT YOUR BACK!

afgmoto1978 10-24-2008 06:09 PM

I don't know how I'm going to spring for it, but I will do my best to drive my FD to DGRR09.

If not can I borrow your FD again Phil??:)

djmtsu 10-26-2008 03:17 PM

Any new info Phil?

Herblenny 10-26-2008 06:30 PM

Sure! as long as my 8s running or if I still have the 8:)

Herblenny 10-30-2008 03:47 PM

DGRR 09 is a NO GO at this point..

Phoenix7 10-30-2008 03:51 PM

why??

Herblenny 10-30-2008 03:54 PM

Too many issues from people at the lodge... I might give nantahala Village one more chance.. but Fontana Village have yet again to pull my leg... God I hate those fuckers!

Phoenix7 10-30-2008 03:57 PM

wow, I wonder why.....WEll, please keep me posted....Brooke and I wanna fly out there for this event.

Herblenny 10-30-2008 04:00 PM

Well, I'm just getting tired of BS from both places... My last resort is to contact nantahala with new proposal... but Fontana is Definitely out and I bitched them out and asked them to never contact me!!

Now Nantahala is next and we'll see how they react....

Phoenix7 10-30-2008 04:02 PM

I'm crossing my fingers.

djmtsu 10-30-2008 04:43 PM

This is not happening. I am getting the shakes and cold sweats......

My5ABaby 10-30-2008 06:04 PM

Is there anything I can do Phil? I'm about as local as it gets and could go over there or something if you want. Anything to keep this event going...
