I know you're joking, but I have extra tube. You would just have to get the AN fittings, tstat flange, and rad fill if you want?

TitaniumTT 12-13-2015 12:29 AM

LOL, not going AN this time around and already ordered the 32mm rad full to use the phaggot greedy stock sized rad cap. Will cut it out of 1/2" plate I've got.

So you have a provision for the stock low coolant sensor?

Haven't added a bung yet. You know what threads it uses?

TitaniumTT 12-14-2015 04:16 PM

I'll tell you this weekend when I weld on a flat plate and tap it ;) Crush washer seal, not NPT

RXtacy 12-15-2015 11:03 PM

Got my coils in and finished the coil bracket that was started a LONG time ago.

Didn't have the right length spacers, but you get the idea.

Nice bracket! I made one for the stock location too but they sit closer to the edge of the engine and yours is finished better lol.

Thanks, finally getting a belt sander has dramatically improved the finish quality  Are you using the IGN-1A also? They're not small coils. It was really damn tight under there between the UIM and the fuel lines.

TitaniumTT 12-16-2015 01:23 PM

Good lord man, didn't I cut that out almost a year ago? :smilielol5:

Just as an afterthought for the REW mani, I integrated an UIM support for my RE

Maybe... :suspect:

I didn't have the coils to test fit everything, so I didn't weld it up. It wasn't high on the priority list. You tied the UIM into your coil bracket?

TitaniumTT 12-16-2015 08:24 PM

Yeah.... not high on the priority list for sure.

Yes, Yes I did tie it into the UIM

I didn't sand or coat mine or anything lol. It looks pretty rough. Yeah I'm using those coils too. I had to remove the coolant outlet nipple on the bottom of the throttle body to get it to almost sit on top of the coils (it's that tight), but I wanted short plug wires and that's what I got lol. I just need to figure out a way to duct cool air to them or wrap them in reflective barrier. I'll see if I can find a pic so you can see how they sit. Although it doesn't really matter since you did yours already lol and I'm not trying to hijack.

EDIT: Here we go.

Looks good to me :icon_tup:
I like how far over you got them. Would have made my fuel line routing easier. Mine are quite close to the UIM as they sit.

TitaniumTT 12-18-2015 02:13 PM

Eric, don't wrap them in anything, you'll contain more heat than you reflect

That was another concern I had, not having enough room for the wiring harness or whatever else would be a headache. But with yours it looks like you'll still have enough room for everything and it doesn't look like you had to modify too much to get it that way. It looks good!

I didn't realize how big these coils were and how much of a PITA it would be to make them fit there lol.

OK I'll just see if I can find a way to run cool air to them then. Thanks!

RXtacy 12-28-2015 09:49 PM

Fabbed up a 4" downpipe. Still need to add O2 bungs.

I orginally had a 3-4" transition from vibrant that was like 4" long... No way was that going to work. It's not too bad now.

The rear is no problem  The front will be tricky.

TitaniumTT 12-31-2015 12:26 AM

Meh, it's not as bad add it looks lol. .... you're not serious about the recirc are you?

No it's really not all that tight.

Maybe not for initial setup, but I still plan to pursue it down the road.

RXtacy 02-10-2016 10:24 AM

Small update. It's been cold and snowy here for a while now so haven't made a lot of progress. Added O2 bungs to the downpipe, and started stripping the bay for paint.

I'll be doing a wire tuck and battery relocation so pulled the front harness this weekend. Need to strip it down, gut all the circuits I don't need, extend to the new fuse/relay locations and re-wrap.

Exactly what I was thinking lol.

I wouldn't mind doing a wire tuck on mine. And by that I mean I wouldn't mind paying someone else to do a wire tuck on my harness while I don't play with the idea of blowing my brains out. Wanna do mine too? lol

Other than a few (and by few I mean a solid 10 minutes) of cussing out the Mazda engineers when I realized I had to pull the dash, blower, and evap core to get the harness out it hasn't been too bad

I started stripping the wrap last night. Throw some music on and go to town, it's almost cathartic. We'll see if I'm still saying that by the end :smilielol5:

Feel free to paint the bay on your own if you would like

Where's the hours of block sanding in an engine bay? :suspect:

You can remove all the seam sealer and putty everything smooth how about that?

TitaniumTT 02-23-2016 04:36 PM

Right after all the welding and beating is done ;) hence the :suspect:

After pulling the seam sealer you gonna seam weld?
