The Good: The event in general, the roads, and the folks.

The Bad: The 12 hour run home Sunday on seriously short sleep after our "neighbors" kept us up til 2 AM yelling like idiots. Thanks to all of those who put a bitter ending on an otherwise sweet weekend.

Hello everyone, this was my first year but won't be the last attending this awesome event. While I don't drive a rotary car I'm still in the Mazda family and have always been a fan of Mazda and their rotary cars.

Me too despite the V8 swap...I joke that I was driving rotary before some of these "kids" knew what a rotary was. Got to meet some guys that could say the same about me lol.

Best part was how the group welcomed me even though I was not driving a rotary car and entrusted me to lead the Friday morning big loop drive.

Same, overall a warm reception with the expected ribbing on my swap. Rotary community is still tops in my book for friendliness and openness to other vehicles/engines/etc.

Thanks for leading us on our Friday drive and for taking Gringo (Kevin) and I to Robbinsville for lunch.

You gotta expect people partying on the last night...neighbors are the luck of the draw..hope that doesn't deter you from next year.

HA! Now That was an AWESOME Time!
Best - EVERYTHING!
Worst - Non-Pulling Over Bitches on the Dragon...

Best = Never saw one cop. Survivor of 4 events for me and plan on going to every single event there will be at the DG! Hope Phil plans on doing this next year (Thanks phil!!). I just cannot type here how enjoyable this event is each year.

Worst = Sitting at the US border waiting to go into canada and a person decides to switch lanes and backs into my car pushing the bumper under the hood. Also I never seem to have enough time to meet everyone, do the little things like sit at one of the corners video taping all of the rx7s flying throughout the gap, do the skyway etc.

Had an overall great time again, this being my 2nd time at DGRR, 1st time was last year. If I had to pick the "Best" part of this year's trip, it would be driving the skyway/dragon loop Friday AM. The Sunday excursion to the Mitty and the parade laps at Road Atlanta was pretty awsome too.

The bad? Not much, just the tree pollen making a mess of my car & lungs, and the lack of coffee first thing in the AM at Nantahala village.

Best: No tickets! And we still have both rotors (unlike last year)! A little different being in a RHD. It was awesome when Kevin (ZGN) glanced over and said, "I don't remember the dropoff being that far down!"
Worst: No AC. But then again, in the 10 or so years we've had an RX-7, I think we've only had AC for a total of one month.

Rotarys have ac?

I've heard rumors that AC actually exists. :dunno: In our case, AC consisted of a batter-powered necklace fan that quickly ran out of battery power. :chillpill:

Supernaut 05-04-2011 02:04 PM

Haaa yea. People are always amazed that my AC works.

When I read "neighbours" and yelling, I knew you'd be involved.

Best: driving my twincharged setup for the first time

Worst: Oil pan getting a massive leak

87turbo_turtle 05-04-2011 05:13 PM

Yeah not even the spare car we brought has ac. The silver 06 xB.
