Whats up with the hammered paint finish on the fuel rails and coil rails? Is that factory?

Looking good..... for a v8.....

TitaniumTT 01-06-2011 09:51 PM

Valve covers? WTF are those things?

That looks like just a wrinkle finish powdercoat. I've got a lb or so of it kicking around that I've used before.

FC3S Murray 01-07-2011 03:46 PM

Yep, wrinkle finsih flat black. Thanks for the relucatant compliment WE3RX7 ;)

More parts in today, most importantly my O2 sensors are in.....start up can begin very soon now!

Can you tow my FB to the races for me? I will get on fabin ya up a receiver hitch. I want to come ooogle your car? Update or I am just going to stop by in my G string.

Prodigy 02-09-2011 12:54 AM

Exhaust pics or BAN!!!!

One of my next trips through Great Falls I am going to have to plan to stop by and meet a couple of you guys, and see the car... seeing as you are just across the border (its only a 7 hour drive, I might just make it a weekend trip once in a while) and once my 7 is running fine and smooth it would be a great "little road trip" to take her on....

That would be a good plan. Once the weather gets nicer and we get some damn 7's going I am hoping to throw a BBQ at my Cabin out in Wolf Creek. Maybe plan it around a SCCA race at the Helena airport.

Prodigy 02-09-2011 01:25 AM

I might, MIGHT be able to get a few more 7's depending on date, if they are running etc... :P

Sounds like something we should plan for though... would be a great time..

Where is this G-Funk place that you call home...?

Haha that is my Ghetto name for Great Falls. I live right around FC3S Murray aka Sean, Project86 aka Kyle, Haukbeeb aka Kyle. There are a few more of us Matt, Rett. Seans Uncle has an FD his Aunt has an FC. Lots of Randoms we have not met up with also. If we do this meet at the Cabin the Helena Peeps would most likely show up also.

FC3S Murray 02-23-2011 10:28 PM

No updates recently boys. Ransom welded my Gas pedal extension to give the pedal more throw. Today my shitty 1998 Camaro throttle cable unraveled itself when I cut it to shorten it and put on a swedge.

I have started to fabricate my 4'' intake and when all the goodies get in I will start cutting.

Really just be pissed off and lazy lately due to the shitty weather and I am just tired on working on the FC every spare minute I have(or lack there of).

Brian was right: this project is time consuming BUT it has been very informative and for the most part fun. Oh if I had the time like I had when I was single :)

TitaniumTT 02-23-2011 10:49 PM

Gas pedal extension doesn't mean the throttle will open more making the car faster..... GM owners... wow.... ;)

Sooooooo you're surprised a 13 y.o. GM piece fell apart?

Lets see some more pics man. I told you it was a cool swap if done right, but so few people acutally take the time to do it properly as you have. I'd still rather see that ole' rotary in there though ;)

josh18_2k 02-23-2011 11:13 PM

wtf is with all these ppl and throttle cable problems? im using an OEM non-tc camaro cable, and it matches the FC pedal perfectly. no freeplay, 99% TP on the floor.

IDK man!.....I think the newer LS1 thorttle bodies have a smaller cable linkage which is why some people are getting extra slack in the cable. I had about 6'' too much.

Then my firewall clearancing for the JTR headers was a little extreme and caused me to have to bend the gas pedal since it was bottoming out and add the rod extension for the extra throw.

Been a mother f*cker recently

Thank Brian and I will post some more pics once this intake is done. I really wanted to do a over the radiator intake like the Samberg kits or Frijolee's FC but this will do for now. 4'' piping is big shit to work with:beatdeadhorse5:

Here is the latest update on th V8 forum:

Update:

So since I havent been posting lately DOESNT mean I have not been wrenching when the time allows.
Most of my work has been RE-wiring my driverside OEM harness due to me cutting out FE-01..which is needed for IGN power lol.
I have also been working on the little stuff that is just time consuming like: exhaust fabrication, muffler fabrication, interior assembly and new CHECK ENGINE lighting, throttle cable installation(btw the OEM throttle cable piece in the firewall can F*ck off..what a pain to remove), Gas pedal adjustment/fabrication, Fan relay wiring, flushing pre-mixed gasoline out of tank, driveshaft installation, tranny servicing, oil dip stick fabrication, hose and wire routing in engine bay, custom shifter assembly AND intake pipe fabrication.

Sooo I am still at work boys, do not worry 8)
